    He was a star thats for sure. A character the game wont see the likes of again.

    I was having lunch in London last june in the westend, and he was sat on the next table to me, he looked real ill then i was gonna say hello and ask for an autograph but i alwas shit out in situations like that.
    He was a hero of my dad's, he was a teen when George was Irelands Biggest export along side Guinness lol.

    He had a bustup the following week with his missus (who he was having lunch with) and was arrested for assault. The next time he was on the news was a few months later when he was dying.

    Yea that made me laugh. His wife beat him up, she actually admitted to this, and he's arrested!.

    That day my GF and her mate were talking about her, (you know how women are, an im just sitting that taking it all in) they passed a few comments on how nasty she looked, not the kind of woman you want to get on the wrong side of! she cetainly looked a horrible auld cow.

    he may have been one of the greatest players to ever grace the football pitch and in my eyes he was a legend on the pitch.....but the way he squandered his life "twice" has a lot to be said for......................
    he had a second chance...took the liver that someone else coulda had and pissed it all away again.....shouldnt have been allowed a second chance...............

    spot on booz. as much as i admire what he accomplished in football and how much fun he had early on, i cant help see his legacy as severely tarnished by his apparent lack of restraint, and lack of respect for life

    I aint disagreeing with you lads, i have said what i believe to be true at the time, its a trait i have always had. I will speak my mind.
    Im not a football fan as you will see by my profile, infact i cant stand the game but i think hes a player who touched all our hearts in one way or another. What he did is his buisness and we can argue till were blue in the face, i know no more truth than the next man on the issue.
    Regardles, the way i was brought up was to let the dead rest in peace and that is what i will do.

    not disagreeing with you on the football side of things...i am an ardent football fan myself.....just think the way he squandered a second chance was out of order...but we will leave it at that..........
