    Six pack

just a simple question guys what body fat % do you have to drop down too before a six pack becomes visible?, probably vary i know, just a rough guide thats all. Also how accurate are body fat monitor scales that use an electric current to measure body fat% and water retention?

Thanks for any help you can give.

I really have no idea because when I was 275 a few months ago I had abs w/deep cuts and I wasn't that low in bodyfat. (Not under 10% I wouldn't think, but I don't ever take bodyfat readings as I view those as pointless) The pic I am referring to is attached.

It also depends on your personal body type and how big your abdominal muscles are prior to losing weight. Whether you are a big solid dude like swole, or a more skinny body type like me would probably separate the points we may see our abs, at any given point.

    Good luck!

well iam at like 4% and my abs suck...i do not think it is a matter of BF% as much as it is how well delveloped your abs are....mine have come a long long wat, but i tend to hold my water there the most so until i dry out they are semi hidden....

I hold all my fat in my trunk. I have visible abs at 13-14%, but have to get to around 8-9% before I'd consider it a decent 6-pack. Varies too much from person to person. And those bf scales are shit. Get a caliper test.

That's the best we're gonna do for you buddy.

It will vary way too much in everyindividual. Just from the few people that posted it ranges from 4%-12%. At 8% I"m veiny as all hell but the absd dont stick out like I'd really want. As soon as I start getting to 6% they look blocky but its hard work.

Basically you answered your own question. Hopefully some of the above posts helped.

I could'nt agree more, yes i do believe BF% plays a roll in a person seeing their abs but i never started seeing any hint of abs until i started working mine more and to this day it is a slow process but i am trying to work them more and more and hope to one day have a strong midsection, i believe my problem is they are undeveloped.

Anybody got a crazy ab routine they would like to share?

    All great answers!
In summation: There are many variables involved.

Those who have nice abs without much work are usually people who never collected fat in this area. These folks can eat, almost as they please, and not have their abs suffer because there are no (or very few) fat cells in the area to engorge.

As you've heard ab development is very important...a marathoner can be very lean (3-5% bf) and still not have abs because they don't work them. Conversely, some people have very well developed abs, but cannot burn enough fat from the cells covering them for viewing.

Also, as discussed water retention can blur their view.

Lastly, I'd like to add that lifting with your abs (weighted crunches and reverse crunches) can enhance relief (their forward positioning).
So the diversity of responses is directly correlated to each individual's unique circumstance.

Ab work (and cardio too) should always be a part of your regimen, regardless of where you are goal-wise. Your present goal only determines the amount and intensity of said work. It should go without saying, as they are inverses, that lower back work is necessary when working abs to properly balance your posture and prevent stress pains.

Thanks for all the responses guys, looks like ill just have to keep the diet, cardio and training up until they decide make an appearance. By the way what are calipers cause i ve got one of those body fat monitors that use electric current to measure bf% and my fears have been confermed and the piece of sh1t is going out the window.
