I swtiched from the 1.5" to a 1"...and i dont know why but im so much more comfortable. This lil 1" seems like a thumb tac haha! What's your body fat percentage? If you have a decently fat bootie you will need a 1.5" to make sure you reaching muscle and not injecting into fat. If you're extremely lean the 1" would be OK.
