different opinions about tapering down t3

I was under the impression that Cycleon, whom I have the greatest respect for, insists it is a must. But seeing as there are many other resonable-sounding people saying that down taper on t3 is totally unnecessary (an outdated and disproven concept, as it were), I just don't know what to believe. Would be helpful to get a reliable ramp-up dosage, as well.

i like to recommend ramping-up for anyone that has never taken it, just so you can get an idea of how it will affect you..i start @ 25mcg/day, then go to 50+mcg/day.

as far as ramping down..dont really know. i ramped down both times i used it so i cannot compare..

Would really like some input here, guys. Will refraining from ramping down result in the dreaded "rebound-effect" or something?

On the subject of tapering down, since the body produces around 20-25 mcg T3 itself, one would suspect that anyone taking that dose or higher would probably more or less totally shut down their own T3/T4 production.

If people go with the taper down method, it therefore really doesn't make sense to go from say, 100 mcg -> 75 mcg -> 50 mcg -> 25 mcg -> 12,5 mcg..... and so on. Whether you take 100 mcg or 25 mcg, your own production will probably be around 0 anyway, so when tapering down you might as well jump down to at least 25 mcg, and then take it down further from there.

If you do taper down, it will take longer for your body to recover its own production, simply because you're still feeding it T3 and it won't have to produce as much as usual to maintain normal levels. Still, when tapering down, you may very well avoid the rebound effect you would otherwise experience. This is of course due to the fact that when not stopping abruptly, your T3 levels will never at any time crash totally.
