    Breaking out on my head

Lately after I get a hair cut, (#1 guide) i break out fairly bad on my scalp. after a week or so the breakouts seem to subside. anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this. fairly acne free everywhere else and i'm not running any gear right now.

    thanks

I would like to see some feedback on this as well...

The same thing occurs to me everytime I hit my scalp with the clippers.

I think it may be a sensitive scalp issue, but I would like to hear some feedback on how to minimize this or prevent it all together.

It happens to me, my theory always was that it was due to the fact that hair and that debris and residue falling from my hair, as well as perhaps unclean scissors, onto to my forehead. Also someones hands in my hair might contain a little dirt as well. Definitly washing my hair before and after helped AND my face right after

It's called folliculitis and it causes by irritated/infected hair follicules. I sometimes get a small bump or two on my head when I hit it with the sheers. It's really difficult to avoid, though. Best practice would be to make sure that all parts that touch your scalp are as clean as can be.

thanks for the input guys, but this just started happening over the last few months, and i've been getting my hair cut for years. can folliculitis abruptly start, if so is there any topical treatment to prevent the infections?

Your skin reacts to bacteria and/or fungus. If you nick your skin with unclean clippers or scissors, you're getting infected with unfriendly bugs.

Professional haircutters are legally required to sanitize their clippers, scissors, combs, etc, before working on a customer (few actually do, though). I knew a guy who had a tight fade, he had lots of nasty bumps where the hair was shortest. Turned out that his barber never sprayed anti-microbial stuff on 'em between customers, and he tweaked his clippers so they'd cut extra-close. Well, those extra-close and dirty blades clipped his skin and got germs in there. The result was lots of ugly bumps. The cure was injections from the dermatologist and a big transfer of $$$.

Prevention -- make sure your barber/cosmetologist keeps everything sanitary.
