flying armbars ... gotta love it
i don't like flash moves personally. Alot of that sh*t gives up position in hopes of surprising the apponent and having the move work. Looks more like jap jui jitsu with a lil focus on submission
BJJ mantra
Position before submission
i have to agree with you there unless you have the move totally mastered i love a flying armbar from top and person lying on the ground as soon as the arm is exposed, i nearly always seem to get it perfectOriginally Posted by zimmy
moves like that will only work on a "mariposa", ha
I agree 100% zimmy. Alot of those throws weren't that immpresive but I come from a greco background so I have seen about every throw out there. The flashies thing I have ever pulled off was a jap wizzer to an armbar. I am also good at inside armdrags to taking the back. However basics and being techinicaly sound is what makes for a great bjj guyOriginally Posted by zimmy
in my experience bjj guys are so easy to throw around and take down, but i come from a very good wrestling background
yah... iz cus we don't fear the ground like wrestlers so we don't have the urgency to stay up that you are used to :P
Zimmy I think its more on how rules are applied to bjj. More then wrestlers being afraid to be on the ground. I would like to point on jacare and couture. Couture cross trained but his no where near the sub level of jacare yet he got a draw and nearly beat him by taking his back. Elite level wrestlers can control even the best bjj guys from the top with limited bjj knowledge imo.Originally Posted by zimmy
