    working out after midnight?

I was wondering what would be downfall or benefits of working out after midnight. When I'm on second shift I get home about 1:30 a.m. and I'm wide awake. I thought about working out then taking some whey protein then going to bed. Then, I could sleep in and get up and do cardio on empty stomach and then enjoy the rest of my day(until time to go to work 1:30 p.m.)What u guys think?

Some nights I work out at 2am. I get it when I can! I haven't missed a single day in months due to 24 hour gyms.

24 hour gyms never did me any wrong. plus I have the advantage of fewer people at late hours. I never wait for equipment.

I have read that it can be bad because your body is shutting down and you force it to 'wake up' and then shut down rapidly after working out.. I am sure once in a while couldn't be too harmful but repeatedly might cause some effects to sleep and how much REM you might get.
