Ok guys, i notice there are alot of shoulder problems here,
i have an injury that keeps flaring up from time to time, the old rotator cuffs.
I use hot n cold compression etc.
i have started a course of acupuncture followed by acupressure and cupping.
I had my first treatment tonight and altho i was not in any real pain in my shoulders, i could feel that the old injury is not fully repaired.
So i called in to my local TCM practice and payed for a course.
im gonna go back next sunday for my second session an keep it like that for the next 6 weeks.
On my first treatement.
I felt loads of pain while having the therapy, not like bad pain but more pressure from massage or suction cups etc.
it is pretty hard going, not exactly ur normal sport massage.
I could feel at certain times, while getting pressure points in my shoulders pushed to the point of serious uncomfort that a massive pain was formoing in the top of my head. This tells me that its not all nonsense this pressure point thing. TCM has been practiced for thousands of years it has to have some baring.
Anyway i had 30 mins of about 15 or so needles placed in around c 6 and t 4 on my spine, and and a couple around my rotator cuff area.
followed by a pressure point massage that was about 30 mins also, finally had suction cups placed in the same areas as the needles were for about 15 mins.
i feel fine, but like i said i was not that bad before.
i feel my rotator cuffs stif now as if i had done a bit of a work out on them. What i am hoping for is that the blood flow is increased to my rotator cuff area and aiding its rehab.
On the conclusion of my first treatment i think it has some benefits but only can wait to find out.
the Dr said that it is a problem that will need a course of regular visits to put right (dont they all say that)
he also mentioned that a disk problem is the reason i have a rotator cuff injury.
now from what i gathered a nerve has been put under pressure from a disk in my back around the t5-t9 area. I can only asume that it has effected blood flow to my shoulders in some way, i know from past research that the pressure points behind the shoulder blade regulate blood flow to that specific area, so i can only assume that this course of treatment that i have been sold will sort the problem out.
i also noticed that i had a pain in my neck after the treatment just above my left trap, i will tell him this next time i go in and see if any form of treatment there given will rectify it.
Anyway guys i'll keep this updated an tell you what i think and if i feel it's sorting out a problem that has long troubled me.
