I use 1in for the delts and quads, 1.5in for the glutes, 5/8 for traps, bis, tris, lats.

i bury a 1 inch pin in the delts with no problem. If i dont sink it deep enough, it hurts under the skin and itches.

I created a guide with the syringe cover by cutting it down and then sliding it over the pin I am using, that way I can insert it all the way to the beginning of the "guide" which keeps the depth consistent. I have 25 1 1/2 inch pins so I use a guide to shorten it to about 1" for spot injections. So if needed create a guide so you can inject at any depth you want.

the larger the gauge number, the smaller the actual pin is, so a smaller pin goes in easier and should minimize scar tissue.
An 18 gauge is like digging a spoon through your skin.

The smaller the pin also (as mentioned by others) draws and injects oil based products slower, but it will still work.
