How could the 2 greatest actors of all time make the worst movie?

I just watched De Niro and Pacino's movie Righteous Kill for the first time. This movie sucked balls. I don't understand how Pacino and De Niro, arguably the two best actors up to date, could make such garbage. They go from making classics (Scarface, The Godfather, A Bronx Tale, GoodFellas) to this junk to finish out their career. Anybody else watch this POS?

I saw the previews, and couldn't even bring myself to watch it.

Really, really disappointed they'd make something that crappy.

I can see where the title could be misleading.

Actors don't make movies; they act in them. Movies are made by producers who put together a director, a cinematographer, an editor... this collaboration is what makes a movie. When actors sign up they've got a script to read and might have an idea of who else is attached or in negotiations to getting attached to the project. Based on that they roll the dice and either negotiate their contract or they don't. Sometimes negotiations for directors fall through and they get someone else after the actor(s) have already signed on. Sometimes scripts undergo rewrites while shooting and the actors have no choice but to read what they're given. Sometimes the picture goes to shit in the editing room - I could show you two movies that are the same but you would swear are two different movies - based on how well or badly there were edited. So I'll bet you Pacino and De Niro did not think that this movie would turn out to be a bomb. Even a veteran actor can get on a shitty project once in awhile. It's all a roll of the dice. Very few actors have creative control over the entire movie making process unless they fund the movie and produce it all by themselves outside of the hollywood studio system; and 90% of those movies end up making no money.

I knew it was going to be this movie before I even opened this thread. I remember seeing a preview for this movie when it was first being advertised and I was so excited, and then it came out and I heard nothing positive about it, so I was pretty pissed.

It sucked I agree. People I know though liked it and they look at me like I'm stupid when I told them it sucked. Oh well, I guess some people like anything as long as it is some kind of action no matter the cheesiness.

On- Demand redeemed themselves by playing "Death Sentence" right after it. That was one fvcking tremendous movie with Kevin Bacon. It just didn't get that popular, low-budget I would assume.

Deniro is great and think Pacino is pretty good too... But this is half the reason I like Deniro.. In an interview 1 time he said and I cant take a direct quote but he basically said good script, bad script, bad, movie, good movie, I dont give a shit if they want to write me a check for millions of dollars I will do any movie they want!
