B.W. Free Test out of range

    Name Value Reference Range
    Testosterone, syrum 366 280-800 ng/dl
    Free Test (direct) 7.0 8.7 - 25.1 pg/ml

    I am 33 y.o., 205 lbs, 6'4", 12% BF.
I have done a couple cycles of Test with proper PCT.

What does it mean that my Free Test is lower than range but that my Test total is within range?

my free test is 7 and the range starts at 8.7. doesnt that put me out of range.

The doctor said he would put me on TRT but I need to look into freezing some sperm first so I can have kids eventually.

What does it mean that the free test is out of range and the total is in range?

i've read the range statrs at .68 so by that standard your normal
Most of the testosterone in the blood is bound to a protein called sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG). "Free" testosterone may be checked when conditions that can increase SHBG levels, such as obesity or hyperthyroidism, are present.
The levels of other hormones made by the pituitary gland, such as follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), may be checked to see whether a low testosterone level is caused by problems with the testicles or ovaries or the pituitary gland. For more information, see the medical tests Luteinizing Hormone and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone. A really high level of LH and a low level of testosterone often means that the testicles or ovaries are not working properly. A low LH level and a really low or high testosterone level may mean a problem with the pituitary gland.

What is the difference between 'Free Test' and 'Total Test' ?
I know that the total test has bonded with protein and the free test has not, but what does that mean to me?

Do you feel any difference is the real question?

Free test can change from time to time and if your not experiencing any problems I wouldn't worry about it.

Look into a supplement called activate extreme that will increase your free test levels before thinking about going on TRT.

For being 33yrs old he range doesnt seem too far off depending what time of day it was taken.

Only way to know for sure is at least 3 or more blood tests and your doc should be giving you and MRI to test your nuts and head make sure its not a problem with those areas.

If everything checks out and you continually have low test levels than maybe look into TRT but your levels are still in range and going to stabbing yourself for the rest of your life is a big decision...

Well i know my "doc" personally and some are better than others.....but this kind of testing should be left to specialists. Doc's can run panels and many know the normal ranges, etc.....but few understand areas outside of being a "GP". To the OP ....just go see an endo and they will run many different tests for you and determine what is best.

I bet you and your doc don't even know which type of test was run to check your test....this is determined by which lab and the technology they use, etc. That also is important.

your numbers arent low, there higher then mine and im nearly 20. TRT should only be considered IF you experience side effects that affect you daily like; depression, low libido, energy etc.

Can you explain why his numbers aren't low? And BTW I'm not telling him to go on TRT....just to see an ENDO to get the real scoop or at least a better look at it.

Oh yeah and why are your numbers so low?
