    Re-using pins horror stories

I have a buddy who insists on re-using the barrels on his pins. Any body got any good cautionary tales I can tell him about to scare him?

I've been told that washing out with cold water is best way to avoid infection because hot water will help bacteria grow but this is bro.science to be honest and I hope.somebody can chime in with some knowlege because to be honest I have often done it myself and would like to hear some educated opinions

with pinns being so cheap why would anyone bother to re-use?...tell him to pony up the bucks for some pins for hevens sake, talk about a miser...what does he think he's gaining from this?...im curiouse...

I've been in a pinch in the past and have reused syringes. I just change out the needle and reused the barrel. I only did it a few times until my new pins came. They're pretty cheap. One visit to the Doc is more then 100 pins.

i never advise to, however i have re-used many, many times. all when much younger..
not a question of money, in some places they are also illegal, and delivery takes 24-48 hours.

now that im older and wiser, i would miss the shot, but when i was younger, i did it alot...

Risk of infection should be a good enough reason.
Plus these days they are cheap and readily available.

He always uses the cost as his excuse, but hes on cyp, so hes only pinning twice a week. Im on prop, and use 2 points and 1 barrel every day and it still costa almost nothing, so it makes no sense to me.

was a needle cost? A quarter? If your friend wont spend that you should just make fun of him for being a cheap ass. Fvck a parking meter cost more

A pharmacist told me that the barrel will stay bacteria free for 3 weeks and then at that point it will start to grow bacteria... So reusing the barrel is fine I guess but wouldnt do it with a needle...

I always use a fresh needle for pinning but reuse the syringe or "barrel" all the time without any issues. I figure I probably use it a few times and then switch to a new one. I don't really keep track.

The only issue i see with resusing the barrel is the possibility of contamination from aspirating. I figure you then run the risk of bacteria being pulled into the barrel and allowing it to grow until you use it again.

For me i buy pins and barrels at least 100 at a time. They are cheap. I have no problem tossing an unused one for an issue like it being stripped where the pin screws in.

would never risk contamination problems....i mean once the oil is in the barrel then it is contaminated and should be thrown away...that is just protocol though.....

So super cheap why mess with it. One infection equals a ton of money if you go to the ER in the US..haha...even a co-pay of $25 buys a couple hundred pins....

And for those european or other country guys....I love the free health care...good for you guys!

With how cheap they are it seems insane to me to even think about reusing any part of the syringe.

Much like the aspirate or not thread I cant think of one good reason why you wouldnt just use new - every time.

Here in Canada I can walk into any pharmacy and buy 200 pins and 100 syringes for $40!
