No supplements for me. I get everything I need from real food. This is a very typical article, nothing really unique about it and I disagree with fair deal of what they say. Especially about having carbs in your shakes, regardless of the source of carbs.
I use shakes for desert after a good meal. My favorite way is almond milk and ON gold standard vanilla ice cream protein powder. Tastes mighty fine
Protein shakes alone will get you no where, remember they originally came out to help people lose weight, not gain them. Liquid diets and replacing real food with liquids will make you lose weight and muscle mass IMO.
So a high carb high protein diet will be a lot better than what that article states?
Protein is protein at the end of day. Not sure how you can say they are designed to make you lose weight, they are an aid to help reach your goal protein intake.Originally Posted by Razor
In reference to them being designed for people to lose weights that's merely due to a diet change. In favour of a higher protein less carb diet. Calories are calories liquid or solid, obviously getting your protein from whole food is a better option due to micro nutrients.
cbf reading it all, but of what i did he said to have your shakes before, during, and after your workout. idk might be worth a try, couldn't hurt. lol so i need to make 3 shakes before going to the gym, gonna have to get more shakers.
i have seen some guys with their shakers during their workouts.. idk whats in them, looks like a pre workout drink from the supp store in the gym to me.
Try gaining weight by just drinking protein shakes all day, never going to happen.Originally Posted by auswest

Gaining weight in protein shakes would be hard cause they lack calories. Add oats then you will gain.
Yes protein shakes is a low calorie meal replacement so razr has a point. However, protein is protein (Aus) and it does help you hit your 200+ protein a day. Add oats more or less depending on desired goals.
I love almond milk!!!Originally Posted by kronik420
Oh man vanilla almond milk goes great by itself, with oats, cereal, coffee, protein shakes and more.Originally Posted by kronik420
ever try it in protein pudding? tastes incredibleOriginally Posted by Razor
How is the taste of egg whites in your shake. Sounds terrible so I have stayed awayOriginally Posted by kronik420
How do you stomach that?Originally Posted by gixxerboy1
I make a shake like this. 1 scoop of protein powder, 1 cup egg whites, one cup of yogurt, one cup of dry oats.
Also I use the powder for pancakes and pudding. Protein pudding is awesome IMO.
I do this also. I usually just use the real eggs and get the whites out of them and put them in whatever. It cheaper that way to me.Originally Posted by gixxerboy1
What's the recipe?Originally Posted by jasc
Razor I know you didn't ask me but, lol.
I use wal mart brand sugar free pudding mix
1 scoop of whatever protein
1 cup of almond milk
1 cup of non fat half and half
I have even melted peanut butter and mixed it together. Use a whisk and mix them together. Eat right away or put in fridge.
Your recipe but use protein pudding instead of powderOriginally Posted by Razor

1 scoop choc casein
1/2 scoop choc whey
1/3 cup ground up oats
dash of cinnamon
splash of sugar free vanilla creamer
finish with unsweetened almond milk (add until desired consistency)
Its even better if pop it in the freezer for a few, makes it like ice cream
What two brands of protein are you using for the casein and wheyOriginally Posted by jasc
Optimum nutrition natural whey - chocolate cremeOriginally Posted by Razor
Dymatize elite natural - rich chocolate
Any good tasting powders should do though.
The dymatize is the casein right?
My bad.. The ON Choc creme is the casein.. mistyped it the first timeOriginally Posted by Razor
Ok ill buy itOriginally Posted by jasc
It's good stuff bro, I mean pumpkin, or was it cupcake today? can't keep upOriginally Posted by Razor
I'd imagine the regular casein would probably taste even better but I can't have artificial sweeteners so it's all natural for me
