I love quads when I shoot IM now. 5/8" pin and can be very precise and slow. Never hit a vein yet, but I always aspirate.

  3. #3
I dont know if my doc is full of it or not be she said dont worry about aspirating, or air bubbles. She said it was just tv bs. I dont know if she is correct or not, i just stuck it and plunged it. No pain.

Air bubbles dont matter but aspirating is important. Just aspirate, takes a fraction of a second.

I would always aspirate. It is easy and takes two seconds.

Also, make sure you do the conservation technique by placing a small air bubble against the plunger, so when you push the test in, you get every last drop!

  9. #9
Just to make sure I am doing it right. I inject the needle all the way in, the needle is 25 ga and 1 inch long. Then pull back on plunger, if blood stop and try again, if no blood then plunge?

If you see blood when you asperate, stop, pull the needle out and move it over. Don't have to move over much, the couple of times it's happened to me I moved it needle over like 1/2" and re-pinned. Some will say to change the pin on your syringe before you re-pin, but I didn't have one handy. It's only happened to me twice.

How could it possibly be easier than injecting hCG? A longer needle and injecting slow oil has got to be harder, no?

Not to me. I didn't feel a thing, and cant even tell or feel where i did it. About 1/3 of the time with HCG i seem to hit something that burns a little, not a lot but more than the one time so far of im.

I think someone's pulling your chain. Probably won't kill you if you inject into your bloodstream but it is very unpleasant. I know because I have done it. Aspiration is harmless and will prevent accidental IV injection. IMO it doesn't make sense not to.

Is using a 25 gauge 1 inch needle big enough to ensure it is going deep enough? It seemed to but I dont really have anything to compare it to.

I agree that shooting in thequad is easy. I tried the glut the first time and it hurt, and bruised really bad. Next shot went in the quad and I see no reason to ever change.

Some of us are using 30 & 31gauge 5/16" needle in the quad. Takes about a minute to get the test oil loaded. You can just read this forum while it's loading and it's not a problem.

Only problem after about 2 years of doing quads pretty much all the time it's getting hard to find area where there is not scar tissue and it goes through the skin easily. I had to start using other locations about a year ago and only recently started using quads once in a while again.

Glutes are a PITA no pun intended. Three is just no way to get 2 hands back there to properly aspirate.

    1. No way its easier than SQ and HCG, hcg is water based, test is oil based.
    2. Wait till the day you hit a nerve or see blood squirting out after an injection
    3. keep doing IM in the quad for another year then get back to us

I am relaxed Just pointing out that that IM Quad is not as easy as its made out to be.

Once the quad scars up, pushing the needle in is not so easy.

The day you hit a nerve, quad injections will never be the same.

Edit- removed the 'lie' from 1. and replaced with reason why its not easier.

PS - I used to love doing IM injections in the quad and thought the exact same thing as the OP.

Not sure about that. Been hitting my quads for years. Sure there is scar tissue. Still a large area. Any muscle would have the same issues. I hit scar tissue in my delts and traps all the time.

The point is, if it works for someone, great. It's certainly not for everyone. Nerves get his once in a while. It's not catastrophic

I hate hitting nerves. When your leg instantly flexes and you spaz out. I am terrified of breaking the needle when that happens. Luckily only happened twice where my leg spazzed out.

Anyways Im doing an experiment using SQ and test to see if its as effective as IM. First go around in the belly wasnt positive, now I'm trying SQ into thigh. If it works, Ill switch to SQ thigh. Ill have results in a month.

Yeah it's no fun. I agree. For volumes 1/2 an ML or less, I always go subQ. Easy as pie.

that's why I insert the pin in the quads very slowly...ive hit a few nerves enough now that when I go slow I can feel im about to hit one so I eather pull out and try again or change the angle of the pin a bit and try again...haven't hit a nerve in years...

Interesting thoughts here. i am far from an expert having done it one time. but it was way easier than i had thought it would be. I might try sub q in the thigh as well. Just to mix it up and keep away from scar tissue and what not. GFA let us know how that works for you, very interested.

Keep doing IM and Ill let everyone know how SQ thigh works. IM is easy until you start getting scarring or hit a nerve at which time it will scar your mind

Here is a thread we started already. So far we know that SQ doesn't work in the belly fat. Im testing again into thigh to see if its any better.

IM 100mg test = almost 800 Total test
SQ 100mg test into belly - 300ish, Test dropped significantly.

Right now testing 60mg test x2 into thigh for next month and will post results.

I currently inject 50mg (every 3.5 dsys) sub-Q in the glutes and test levels were at 749, so location can make the difference as I did not feel the belly was giving same results... Was curious to try the thigh though as it would be much easier than hitting the left glute (being right handed makes it a bit harder). What exact location of the thigh do you inject sub-Q??? Have a pic by any chance? I can only find the IM location, but my legs are pretty lean...

    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

Middle outter, same place I do IM injections. For SQ, I pinch skin, inject and release. I used a slin pin last time too 30g, 5/16 inch needle. Completely painless. I hope it works because I honestly hate IM injections now. Too much anxiety after hitting a few nerves.

@jasondd, like another poster said, try going slow because the day you hit a nerve, you will see why it can be mentally damaging.

I use a 26g 3/8" needle (slighly longer than yours), but seems like it would be IM as I have very little fat on my legs... If I squeeze and inject then release skin (normal sub-Q injection technique I use), is there a chance the needle can still hit IM once I release the skin or am I good to go?

    Thanks again,
    Dave

It might be shallow IM...kinda in the gray area....but fairly painless and seems to work.

No idea, Im guessing its possible its IM but how deep could it be if you are pinching skin? Ill know soon if it works for me using this method. There are many variables like age, bf% and so on. Just looking for an alternative to IM that works.

Yeah I didn't jab it at all. I very slowly slid it in, I kept waiting for pain but none.

Most of the time it is painless. Other times once you get past the skin it wont move (scar tissue). Then there is the dreaded hit a nerve injection. The first time I hit a nerve it freaked me out and I pulled the needle out instantly. Hard to describe the sensation but imagine you are in a deep sleep and someone punches you in the face. Ya that describes it.

SQ is the way to go if it works. No scarring and you have to go under the skin for IM anyway.

Hello, Are IM injections done 1x a week say (100mg) or can they be done 2x a week say (50mg) every 3.5 days?
