    Doctor recommends clomid over HCG..........

Title say it all so after doing some reading sounds like clomid may do almost the same thing as HCG and needs to be used less often and is much much cheaper. So incase I have been reading only "pro clomid" literature I'm asking the experts to explain the difference and pro and cons.

    Thanks!

They do the same thing. Clomid will actually raise LH and FSH while HCG will not. HCG mimics the LH signal. However, the effects of HCG work better for most men and faster in stimulating endogenous testosterone production and spermogenesis. HCG is a natural bioidentical molecule and clomid is not. The polypetide molecule of HCG occurs naturally in the body. I'll tell you with the patients I've treated HCG has shown to be far more superior for the effects we are looking for in TRT. Also HCG has the added benefits in increasing pregnenolone and therefore aids in restoring a more natural balance of hormones. There is still much research that needs to be done. However, from the recent literature HCG seems to play a more important role in balancing and regulating many hormones that clomid does not. My 2 cents.

Also Clomid is to be used when not on trt since it won't work, whereas HCG does work when on trt. Clomid is used instead if trt, not with it.

My doc (A4M Certified) has me on 25mg daily of clomid and 600iu twice a week of hcg with my cyp and anastrozole. I stressed to her the importance of my fertility and she believes the clomid will keep LH and FSH at optimum levels. Been on this protocol for nearly 6 months and had a semen analysis performed last month and I've got more than enough happy campers ready to paddle up stream!!! Look out wifey!!!!!!!

Interesting. My doc (after giving up on everything else, I think) has now put me on Clomid (3x week, unsure of dose), with my HCG and test cyp protocol. I was over-responding to the AI's, but now after nearly 2 weeks on the Clomid with no AI, I feel that something is very out of whack. I suspect high E2? I know full well what low E2 feels like, and this isn't that. So your doc maintained the AI. I was curious as to whether Clomid had any anti-estrogen impact and why my doc took me off of the AI.

Maybe I spoke to soon. Everything I've read and learned about Clomid (clomiphene citrate) is that it won't work of you are on trt. But I'm hearing otherwise that some of u are on clomid and trt-hcg-Anastrozole. Interesting. I'll keep reading these posts.

Yeah clomid can and will increase E2. One reason why my doc has me taking .5mgs I anastrozole 3 times a week as most would take only 2 days if any at all. But I'm also on a high dose of cyp at 200mg per week (100mgs 2x pw) I didn't do well with 100 mg per week or 150. 200 was my magic number. It's amazing how we all react differently to substances.

Thats a totally fine and acceptable protocol. Nothing wrong with hitting it safely from all angles!! Congrats on the swimmers
