They do the same thing. Clomid will actually raise LH and FSH while HCG will not. HCG mimics the LH signal. However, the effects of HCG work better for most men and faster in stimulating endogenous testosterone production and spermogenesis. HCG is a natural bioidentical molecule and clomid is not. The polypetide molecule of HCG occurs naturally in the body. I'll tell you with the patients I've treated HCG has shown to be far more superior for the effects we are looking for in TRT. Also HCG has the added benefits in increasing pregnenolone and therefore aids in restoring a more natural balance of hormones. There is still much research that needs to be done. However, from the recent literature HCG seems to play a more important role in balancing and regulating many hormones that clomid does not. My 2 cents.
