    Blood work in Canada

So I am going to go get my natty levels tested but have a few questions:

What do I ask for? Which type of test? Is it called a full spectrum hormone or do I have to specify what i want to get tested?

If I have to specify what I want tested, what should it be? Like, test/e2/lh/etc.

Is it covered by Canadian medical or would I have to pay out of pocket?

Anyone know any places? (I live in Alberta)

    Anything else to know?

    Thanks in advance!

    They are covered by OHIP

Edit: I know in ontario and a couple other provinces they are covered. Some they are not.

Anyone know the name of the test (if there is one) or what to get looked at?

Its a blood test. Ask them to test for what your looking for ontop of a standard test.

I am in Alberta, go to your doc (most are clueless). Tell them you want to get the following bloods done (if on interested in your test levels):

    • Total Testosterone
    • Bioavailable Testosterone (AKA “Free and Loosely Bound”)
    • Free Testosterone (if Bioavailable T is unavailable)

Would not hurt to get the following bloods done as well:
    • SHBG
    • DHT (perhaps)
    • Estradiol (specify “sensitive” assay for males)
    • LH
    • FSH
    • Prolactin
    • Cortisol
    • Thyroid Panel
    • CBC
    • Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
    • Lipid Profile

    This is covered by AHC.

Perfect, exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
