i see alot of people in my gym with their elbows out....arnt u suppose to have them tucked in on bench or is that just when your doing your max?? any help

Keep your elbows tucked... i like the analogy of an offensive lineman in football while blocking, they are taught on the intitial hit to keep their elbows tucked, why you ask, because the difference in explosive power. you are much more explosive with tucked elbows as opposed to elbows out.Originally Posted by wezhead
my suggestion is to train elbows tucked from warm up to finish, work on technique, learn to incorporate your lats, and strengthen your triceps... helpful keys to a big bench! and may i also suggest not to worry about what others are doing, define your own gameplan and stick to it! Good Luck!

When you train w/ your elbows out you not only lose power but you also put yourself at risk of hurting your shoulder.
thanks alot for the advice.... keep em tucked!!! thats what ive been doin but u see the body builders with elbows out but i bench more with them in...again thanks for reasureing me guys...later
