Why is Cardio so Important while bulking?

I have read quite a bit on the forums here lately. I am trying to absorb everything I can in preperation for joining the dark side.

Anyway, it seems that alot of people are suggesting that you do cardio (30+ minutes) 3-5 days a week while on a bulking cycle. Can someone please explain why this is important?

Seems counter-productive. I mean eating all day long to ensure yo have enough calories to grow, and then run on a treadmill for 45 mins and burn them away.

    Thanks for the help,
    /DJ

your not ment to just burn calorie's mate that's why it's best to do it first thing on an empty stomach so you just burn fat

cardio is important on a bulker to stop excess fat, But most people increase cardio a lot more for cutting than bulking

Exactly, taking care of your heart and burning some fat is always a good thing.

Just to minimize fat gain...you'll wish you did more cardio if you gain a lot of fat for the next time you cut..

OK. I am getting a bit of a gut, so I am planning on adding cardio to the mix 4 days a week - 1st thing in the morning. Anything I can do to ensure cardio is pulling energy from fat stores and not from muscle?

    Thanks again,
    /DJ

lower intensity cardio burns predominatly fat the higher the intensity the bigger shift towards carbohydrate (muscle glycogen)

while in a low Carb state the prefered energy is fat and protein this is catabolic , so it helps to take anticatabolic things like glutamine and amino acids before cardio to ensure that that is taken before muscle

also caffeine shifts the majority of energy usage to fat

Thanks for the good info. Last thing I want to do is loose the 15 pounds of muscle I have gained in last few weeks.
