    A HARD riddle

Which guy will figure out the colour of his own cap?

There are 4 guys. That black box is a wall. It is not a special wall, no mirror, nothing transparent/transcluscent about it. They are all wearing caps (what you see in the pic is the overhead view). They cannot see their own caps.

However, they can see the guy in front of them. That is #1 can see what #2 is wearing and #3 is wearing and the wall. SImilarly #2 can see with #3 is wearing and the wall. #3 can just see the wall. and #4 is facing the wall too and he cannot see cannot but the wall, just like #3.

They cannot turn around they cannot talk to each other. NO MOVEMENT WHATSOEVER. They do not know of any pattern existing. One guy can figure out the colour of his own cap and when he figures it out he will yell it out. When he yells it out he will be absolutely certain of the colour of his own cap. Oh and they all know that there are 2 black caps and 2 white caps.

Also they are all seated in a straight line - my paint skills are sub par hence i could not draw that. They are all facing forward too. You also have to give me your reasoning as to how the guy figured it out

NO ONE is wearing anything reflective on the back of his bead/back. The guy who figures it out will do it based on what he can see and not by some trick like tipping his chair over or anything fancy.

im confused...you first said #4 can see #3, #2 and the wall...then 2 sentences later you said #4 can see only the wall?

i myself got confused because of the numbering

Note that numbering is just for the convenience of explaining it

it has no significance to the solution

2 has sunglasses on the back of his head, and 1, through reflection, can see his cap.

i dont know HOW you are even constucting them...

what do you mena by True and False in your table??

don't go that way by the way.. think logically ... there is no special math/logic/porn required for this

When my friend and I were given this riddle we spent about 3 hours thinking about it unsuccessfully

we eventualy just gave up.... in fact the solution was hard to understand at first too . now it makes perfect sense though

i was thinking in terms of p could represent "wears a white hat" and q could represent "wears a black hat"...then of course all the true/false combos following them

i think im thinking too much into this

    logic huh?

    try this on for size

ok get this, #1 sees a white and a black hat in front of him. He cannot tell what hat he is wearing, so he keeps his mouth shut. If #1 saw two black hats, he would know that he was wearing a white hat. Because #1 does not say anything, #2 knows that #1 must see a black and a white hat. #2 sees a white hat and therefor he knows that he himself wears a black hat.

so logic tells us that its all on #2

    BINGO!

    damn my head hurts

its #2! 1 can see 2 & 3 and 2 can see 3....2 can see that 3 has on a white hat and 2 also knows that 1 can see both of them...if 2 and 3 had on the same color hat (which would ahve been white)1 would have shouted but since he hasnt 2 has to know his hat is not white so its gotta be black!
