smarties?! Like that candy smarties? Why the hell would you eat those PWO
Because they contain dextrose and can be used in a pinch when someone is out of dextrose...Originally Posted by Testsubject
they are three times the price of dex and full of chemical colourant. I cant think of any good reason to use them at all. You'd be better off with table sugar, or honey, maple syrup, mollases.
2 tubes of smarties would give 60g carbs but worryingly (due to choccy filling) about 16 g of fat. Totally unsuitable for PWO as you will be spiking insulin then consuming fats along with it.
Good post, this is the kind of info I need in my diet thread!Originally Posted by perfectbeast2001

2. how would the chocolate in smarties be of any benefit whatsover in the PWO window, Its just a poor use of cals IMO.
ya but give me a break, smartie PWO, c'mon, why not mix up a shake with the proper protien and carbs in it, or if you want, even eat a solid meal afterward, I dont care what smarties contain using them PWO is rediculous IMO.Originally Posted by JC2007
Yeah I don't know man, I'm not condoning it, I use dextrose myself...Originally Posted by Testsubject
I've done it before, wolfed down some smarties when I was out of dex.
Dude, they have absolutely no chocolate, none...never.
It's just overpriced dextrose with food coloring. You might get cavities if you eat em' all the time.
Like a fat kid on smarties...lol
dude, read the label on the smarties to find out how many g of dex they have.
Well how do you explain the 16g of fat they contain per two tubes then. I dont think it comes from the dex does it.....Originally Posted by ginkobulloba
AHA just edited to explain that smarties differ from UK to US.
http://www.calorieking.com/foods/cal...WFydGllcw.html
the american versio you would need 3 oz for 82g carbs.

umm if thats the case you want to get carbs.
why not just get the weight gainer protein that has carbs in it![]()
you can use smarties PWO... smarties have NO chocolate in them..
perfect beast you are definitely not talking about smarties,, or maybe in england they have a different kind,,, they are 0g of fat and have just straight dextrose,, they are also very cheap,, if you believe in spiking your insulin post workout they are perfect
yeah smarties here in the UK are chocolate filled candies
ok...so for us Americans, smarties are OK, right?? i thought i heard that somewhere before just wasnt sure. as far as how many grams of dextrose they are pure that little roll, 30 grams each? does that sound right? dont have the packaging so i dont know, just a giant handful of smarties.....plus where do u get straight dextrose from. i went to the grocery store and they looked at me like i was retarded when i asked for it.....thanks
any health food store should have it.Originally Posted by gotjuice?

thats the whole reason for the slin spike PWO to STORE Protein.
if your muscle glycogen are ***leted, you shouldnt store fat with a spike.Originally Posted by MFT81

when you exercise you use muscle glycogen( carb storage)for energy.you also use it when you sleep at night.Originally Posted by MFT81
this is why most spike insulin levels to push nutrient into the muscle, to replenish it.
this came from Chris Aceto's book Everything you need to know about fat loss.

eating candy for workout out and muscle gaining purposes is the worst idea ive ever heard of
im not condoning eating candy as pwo.Originally Posted by nyjetsfan86
