help opening amps..

I need some help on opening amps…

I heard of people using a nail filer or a small butter knife to ‘score’ the amp and then gently opening the amp and I have also seen a commercial for amp openers but they run for 30 bucks.
Can anyone shed some light on this?

Also, whats done about any glass fragments that might have fallen into the amp after breakage?

break the amp like you are breaking a popsicle stick in half. Put the pressure on your thumbs as you pull back with your index fingers. If it is hard to break rotate the amp, sometimes it is scored more on one side than the other. If you get glass particles in the amp you can use a filter needle to draw your gear out. Then just switch to your injecting needle when you're ready to pin.

I don't suppose I can get these filter needles from a local pharmacy, huh?

Invest in an amp opener. After breaking a few amps in my hands and getting cut, I bought one. No problems now.

depending on the manufacturer some will have a little dot on the neck of the amp, if yours has this make sure you face the dot away from you when cracking it. You can also try taking a new razor (box cutter), place it on the crease and gently rotate the amp against the blade just 1 or 2 full turns.

good stuff guys, i just ordered the cutter hopfully it will arrive in time.
i have only 1 vial and need to start using my amps to continue the cycle. as long as it gets here with in 2 weeks ill be fine.

one more question, i asked this before but just want to clarify...
im going from 400mgs of UGL vial to 400mgs of HG amps...would the quality of the test cause a problem?

the glass fragment scared me for a little bit, but no glass has ever gotten into the vial, even though its crushed off instead of snapped off 50% of the time.
