    Advice needed for a noob

Okay, want to lose weight not entirely overweight but i have gained a beer gut, i dont want a hardcore plan or anything but something that works for me.

Was thinking of running early mornings on an empty stomach(Name for this method?) or maybe with some sort of protein shake in my belly (any recommendations?)

Planning on working out light with dumbells in my garage, not trying to get all buff anymore, nice and toned will do

(whats best way to work out?, is light considered doing 3 or 4 reps of 10-15? or is light like 3-4 reps of 20+ reps. I know getting strong was heavy with reps ranging from 6-8 but maybe times and methods have changed. I havent been serious since high school now im 26.

Diet, i'm not gonna be super hardcore about this...but i do plan to eat healthy, not gonna watch my intake but i will maybe eat light meals? Whats the best way.

4 small meals or 3 meals ranging from a large breakfast, medium lunch and a light dinner? Talking eggs and meat, and no junk food or fast food. If takeout maybe turkey sub from subway etc....obviously watch the carbs...especially at the end of the day.

I also watch tv and play games alot and have a stationary bike which i can ride as a play or watch before bed time... can burn easy calories there if it weren't for my butt getting sore...could rack up 400+ calories a night maybe if i stay motivated probably more if i ignore my sore ass...

it takes 1500 calories to burn a lb of fat correct? any other info i need?
Oh, and i need the best dietary supplement to aid my weight lost. Something that works...and something that loses weight and maybe maintain muscle? but not mass.

Also green tea in the mornings with caffeine for work, after my workout.

Add in crunches and do i got my self a good foot in the door plan? What say you? What other advice preferably more detailed could you guys give me?

Honestly, you will get out of this exactly what you put into this, which after reading your post will be very little. I dont mean that sarcastic but if making physical changes in our body were easy and could be done with a small amount of effort and a weight loss supplement everyone would look good.

So running every morning working out every day and exercising at night before bed = little nowadays? Then i guess i need to look more into this.... the only hardcore thing i thought i was neglecting was keeping a tab on notebook on what i eat and calculate all the calories goes into my body...

Diet, i'm not gonna be super hardcore about this...but i do plan to eat healthy, not gonna watch my intake but i will maybe eat light meals? Whats the best way. This is where most people fail and if you are not going to watch your intake you will more than likely fail as well. You have already conceded defeat here it seems

You know what...you are totally right. If dropping a few lbs and toning up is your goal then doing what you outlined should get you those results. I got a first impression from your post that this is something you are somewhat committed to and there is nothing wrong with that as long as your expectations are equally reflected which it appears they are.

Okay then u win, i guess i'll study a bit more on eating. Any good tutorials/faqs/vids on eating? I'll look for my own but if there any that helped anybody and strongly recommend i'll look into it.

Also other inquiries, Laxatives once a month good or bad? Any opinions? I will definitely study up on dialing into my diet and number crunch...and yes i'm trying to lose some lbs but not trying to be like the situation ...but maybe if i aim higher i won't be disappointed since losing weight will be inevitable.

probably gonna get flack for this but..
Here's the thing though, one thing i can't give up is the nightlife. If i had to drink whats the best thing? does the low carb/calories beer even work? or should i stick with rum and diet.... i also only go out on weekends maybe once and don't socially drink all the time only when i go out which is rare.

Listen to FG, the man knows what he's talking about. Don't take this the wrong way, because we're here to help no matter what - but you really don't need advice from this board to accomplish what you want. Most of us are going to impose a rough routine on you anyway! =)

Having said that - if you're not concerned with adding/maintaining muscle mass, and just want to 'lose weight' and 'tone up', like FG said, you are already on the right track IMO.

You can get a good knowledge base there.

If you must, limit the drinking as much as possible and stick to the low cal stuff.
    Bold again.
