New to site, need some advice!

Hi there. I just joined up and am looking for some advice. Im here to learn about my options for shedding weight and building lean muscle mass. I'm thirty years old, 6'2" large frame and slightly over weight. I've recently been doing a lot of cardio activities (mostly mountain biking, running,etc.). I can't seem to shred this last bit of weight. I don't want to be ripped and have a lot of extra muscle mass, just lean muscle for endurance. Any advice?

Welcome. There is a great nutrition section on here. Go there and talk about your diet, then with cardio and I say a lot of water (water in water out) and promote sweating works for me. I can get lean. But diet ....crazy mike

Oh yea, forgot do tell my background. I am on/off very active. Nut uncommon for me to gain/lose thirty pounds over the course of a year. Add I'm getting older though its more on the gain side. Even with diet and exercise i can't seem to get back to that lean body i used to have. I've looked into a few combos, but i get confused between suggested cycles/blockers/etc. I just need done advice from someone with experience.

As we age, the diet that used to work for the goals we wish to achieve sometimes need to be tweaked. I know for me, the amount/quantity of food I need to maintain went WAY down. Unfortunately, many times the appetite doesn't follow suit. Getting older in the game (for some) brings on some unique challenges. My $0.02

Man you are only 30 yrs. old. Think again. Your metabolism has change some but not that much. But you are not an Ectomorph from what you say and that makes the difference in what you eat vs age. But also if you gain and loose as much as 30lbs. a year that's a lot. You need to be consistent with your activities and your diet. Nothing will take the place of consistency with both. ...crazy mike by the way I'm 62.

Before you take anything you need to get your diet dialed in as well as your exercise routine. Even it that means different sports you need a base workout plan like your diet and again be consistent. My Av picture was back in 86' when I was 35 yrs old. who says you can't be lean. ...crazy mike

Cool, thanks mike. I've been dieting lately and trying to get it dialed in, its just hard for me to get my cardio in more than two days a week. My wife and i have a newborn due in two weeks and life has been crazy. Not sure if that's a reason or an excuse.

A dedicated workout regiment bro. Up your cardio to four days a week will help shedding weight.

Wow...congrats, how cool a new born. Man that's where it's at. keep steady with your workout and diet. Factor in consistency with the family as a steady diet. It's a new way of life for you and yours. Be dedicated to both. Your fitness life will effect your home life and the raising of a child. We have three grown and three grand kids. Ha, ha haaa!!!
    Good luck man. ...crazy mike

Congratulations! One thing I know is that a new baby will make it very hard to be consistent with [I]anything.

I'd try to get away for short periods for exercise. It doesn't have to be for hours - anything you can get in is certainly better than nothing. Also how about taking the little one out for long walks in the stroller? I found mine loved it, and it got me out of the house and good and sweaty!
    Good luck.

Welcome bro, got a little baby myself and I'll tell you home workouts have made things possible for me. I thought my physique was dead once the baby got here, but you'll find a way. The boy always comes FIRST tho! Good luck!

Thanks guys, I've been reading a lot in the nutrition section. Joined a gym this week and been doing a lot of mountain biking. Looking forward to the bundle of joy and lack of sleep.
