Injection Site (hitting vein)

Hi guys well I am a newbie and have a newbie question. How do u know if you hit a vein and is that bad? Can u actually die from it?

I have my friend inject me 2 cc of deca or 600 mg with a 22 1 1/2 gauge needle in the glutes. He has done it alot and he pretty much knows how to very well. He is no nurse or specialist but gets by. The first time he injected me i didnt feel a thing but sorness the next day. Now the second time it stung a little like a ant sting nothing realy painful but it caught me off gaurd. When he pulled out a little blood came out. Now is that sopose to happen or did he do it wrong. Thanks

u need to do some research, blood coming out after the needle is pulled out is common, dont worry about it, and yes hitting a vein is bad and dangerous, u need to aspirate, just research, there is tons of info on this site about injecting

If you hit one it will be more then just a little blood, lol Ive actually had it squirt out!
IF your in the correct area it shouldnt happen but from time to time it does.

and to know if your in a vein you just pull back the plunger a small bit and hold it for about 2 seconds you will see one of two things 1) small bubbles which means your good to inject or 2) blood and blood droplets which mean pull out and apply pressure because your in a vein also ocassionally you could see bubbles and inject correctly but when you pull out some blood could squirt out this means you have went threw a vein and into the muscle , you should be fine if this happens just massage and apply pressure until the bleeding stops

if you hit a vein going in .. you will be in too much pain to inject it..blood should come out right away..

i hit a vein on the way in and it was fairly painful normally it goes in like a hot knife through butter.

i pulled out straight away and there was a lot of blood.

just in case you dont feel the pain of it you should aspirate.
