    Reversing Effects

If ive been doing steriods for 2 years now but havnt done a cycle since i ended one in september does that mean my growth plates have closed permanently or are the effects reversible and they will open again?

If your growth plates have closed then that is how they will stay....

Im 19 in 2 months. Ive stayed at 6ft tall for 2 years. Would taking growth hormone make my plates open up again?

Estrogen is what signals the growth plates to close. Closing actually means that parts of your bone that were cartilage have become bone. All the growth occurs in the cartilage. Once they have become bone I know of no way to reverse it. It is not Testosterone that causes the closure directly, but rather excessive estrogen that was converted from an external Testosterone source be it testosterone or something like dbol.

You can stick a fork in those growth plates. But why are you asking now? Surely you forsaw and accepted this, right?

yeh i forsaw that coming. I knew the risk and the sides were of taking as. Just think its a bit of a bitch how now matter how hard you try you wont keep all the gains you make after your cycle, yet still have the sides after it.

Just me having a rant really!

So looks like im at 6ft then for the rest of my life!

Nothing wrong with 6ft, isnt that above average? Either way, this link should be saved to show other young ones what might happen...

    No bro,

The cartilage in in your nose, ears, and joints stays the way it is becuase it is not desinged to change to bone.

Here is an abstract of a study.

    http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/art...gi?artid=34445

I'll quote it as they describe what is going on far better then I:

"Estrogen caused this proliferative exhaustion and fusion to occur earlier. Our data suggest that (i) epiphyseal fusion is triggered when the proliferative potential of growth plate chondrocytes is exhausted; and (ii) estrogen does not induce growth plate ossification directly; instead, estrogen accelerates the programmed senescence of the growth plate, thus causing earlier proliferative exhaustion and consequently earlier fusion."

Once it is fused it is fused end of story. Doesn't matter how long you take off.
Now if someone is abnormal and there growth plates don't respond to estrogen then it doesn't matter whether they take time off or not.

say just in theory if i was to lay off them for a prolonged period of time (e.g. 5 years), would i stay the same height or would i start growing again? Because the excess estrogen stopped me growing, now that thats taken away would i start growing again?

My friends 29 and hes 6ft four. Hes been doing steriods on/off for 13 years.

5 years is long enough...you'd start growing again around year 4.
    Kidding!

I was just kidding, it seemed to be the only thing you wanted to hear.
Why on earth would a 24yr old start growing again?

How do you know your growth plates are closed? Only a an X-ray can prove this definitively.
