According to the list I have, WHITE pita bread is lower than WHITE bread...at 57 and and 71 respectively. ...whole wheat pita bread wasn't on the list. But WW bread, is sitting at 68, only three points below white...and incidently, multigrain bread and oat bran are lower than all of them at 48. ...and if you want to eat even better than that....
rye kernel bread is at 46, and barley kernel bread is at 39.
hope it helps.
Anna.
I have success with whole wheat pitas in that because they are so paper thin and stuffable, you only need one to make a 'sandwich', whereas bread slices, you need two,...which changes everything now doesn't it?
In a kind of way yes, but as i want to be close to perfection in my diet, i want to make sure that the GI is ok...whereas bread slices, you need two,...which changes everything now doesn't it?
it is probably around 50 - 55, wich is not bad at all...
thanks alot!

it's not really a matter of the GI, as if your carb/fat total for the meal is over what your body will accept, it's bad for you no matter what. If you are cutting, then you'd choose another source of carbs, and those would come when they can only benefit you and not hurt you, and it won't matter what GI they are.
