Prelude:
Let me begin by saying I’m giving two thumbs up to both films. If you’re a Sci-Fi fan “AVPR” is a hot ticket, as is the “Great Debaters” for those who are fans of humanity.

“AVPR” is definitely worthy of its predecessors. However, this 96 minute movie spends what could be considered an inordinate amount of time in the developmental stage. That is to say an estimated 40 minutes was logged on character development that is far less integral to this work than one is led to believe, as evidenced by the latter portion. But once it kicks into high gear, the predator goes about duty as usual dispensing intergalactic justice on blood-thirsty human preyers with more precision than ever...you've gotta love his weapons. As is the tradition, there a couple of intentionally funny moments to lighten the mood but make mistake about it this film becomes engagingly intense, riveting the viewer to his seat. In other words, if let the movie work out the kinks, and IF you’re a Sci-Fi fan, YOU’LL LOVE THIS ONE!

The “Great Debaters” is the second directorial film for Oscar and Golden Globe winning actor Denzel Washington and it does not disappoint. I’m uncertain as to the directorial plaudits he should receive, because this based on a true story, movie was so well cast that Tiny Tim (holiday themed) could have directed it. There were certainly other ways to go about it, so my hope is that he sticks to acting in the future, but the performances were so impassioned, the wardrobe, make-up (especially the hairstyles), attention to vernacular and dialect so keen, the scenery so well captured, and the story so compelling that one marvels at where the two hours and three minutes went.
