Here we go again mes amies!

Traitor... although the trailer alludes to the reinventing of Don Cheadle in the mold of Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne alias, the film is quite the contrary. Though there is a scene where he displays a very inexplicably thorough knowledge of martial arts, it is oddly out of place. This story about Islamic terrorists infiltrated by a Muslim explosives expert with ties to the West, manages to be unsatisfying as a thriller, dreary as a thought/conversation piece, and somewhat offensive in the amount of screen time it spends as a terrorist apologia. It warrants an unprecedented three thumbs down!

Disaster Movie…is actually anything but one. In the spirit of its predecessor multi-film spoofing movies this one is much the same, i.e. a few very funny moments, a few not so funny ones, and plenty of in between ones. It may have spoofed the most contemporary movies (disaster and other) to date in a single work though and is therefore best viewed by the avid attendee. Themed in the run and cover concept of “Cloverfield”, it has a few very redeeming qualities for the red blooded, testosterone filled viewer namely the featuring of: Kim Kardashian for the first 1/4 as well as a wrestling match with she and cameo providing Carmen Electra, and attractive relative newcomer Vanessa Minnillo (http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/contri...9781592/photos). There’s some very good repartee compliments of the “Juno” character, but if this isn’t your flavor…PASS!

LASTLY, THE PIECE DE RESISTANCE…

Babylon A.D....is best summarized by its own genre listing, “Art/Foreign, Drama, Science Fiction/Fantasy, Thriller and Adaptation”. This Adaptation is in a futuristic setting which provides the very underdone SciFi/Fantasy, Vin as usual adds the Thrills which are too few in my opinion but that’s mostly because of the Drama component, which is after all what this movie truly amounts to. I’d rate it subpar in everything it tried to be as it seemingly stretched itself too far, remember it is Foreign. Always good to see Vin cracking heads again, even in this anti-climactic feature. But what of the Art? One could argue that each of the aforementioned elements combine to make up this category, but I’d disagree voting instead for Melanie Thierry whose supermodel-esque look electrifies the screen with every appearance…a true work of “ART”:
