Actually, I do daily pretty much. Doing cardio I watch the BET countdown or MTV, MTV2, etc. Something to make the time pass and be fun.
I also personally like rap music. I am able to listen/enjoy such music, and be able to be a professional businessman and conduct business with 100's of clients/people on a daily basis. I think that's what the issue is, knowing when to leave your "slanguage" @ home, and "come real" with evidence of education, knowledge, success, prosperity, etc. I.E., there is a time and place for everything.
I love rap, and I have no issues with people knowing that and thinking I can't be professional because I like someone else's form of expression. Not to mention these people are creating their own jobs, and making money in a positive way, bigtime, and that's something I look up to as one who is getting his own career together.
Again, this is just my take on it. Carlos, the other thread where the one guy couldnt' shave his head because "he'd get fired". You mentioned you didn't understand why, and even I agree that was A$$inine, but there is a time/place for everything, and impressions are what matters. So, he can't shave his head for fear of looking "weird" amongst CEO's. I know it's dumb, but it's reality unfortunately. So, if you know I like rap (crap that you called it) but wanted to work with me in some way/shape/form, would that now make you change your mind? Would the fact that I like rap prohibit you from working with me?
Granted, if I came at clients with such verbage as, "Hey homeboy, you gotta get on this ill dietary plan I gotz.......It's off the chain and will shred you like a shotgun blast w/a hollow point", I could see how that would be a turn-off,
I guess what I am trying to say is that it is possible for some to like rap music, use alot of slang themselves, yet know when to be professional and let that part of you come through as well.
I suspect that is what people were asking here, "where is that other side?"
