I Need Help With Vegas Marriage, Please!

I am going to Las Vegas to get married. My future wife is Mexican and she does not have a social security number. We tried to get married in a courthouse but couldn't because she didn't have a social security number. Friends told us to go to Vegas and get married. My concern is when we go to the courthouse will we have a problem getting a marriage license? Our friends said that we would be able to get married in Vegas because people that are drunk can married all the time. They seriously doubted that they have all the proper identification on them. Could you help us please?

As far as I know you both must have SSN but you still can call the Marriage License Bureau office in Las Vegas and ask them if there is any way to go around it. Here is their web site:

Just tell them that you are in love and nothing will stop you for marrying her. There is no need for SSNs, she will get one once your married and become a US citizen. I think all you need is an ID to get married in Vegas.

Getting SSN doesn't take more than 30 minutes provided that she has a valid passport but the problem is she must have a legal status in the states to get SSN. I mean she must have some kind of visa if she is not a citizen or green card holder. You can apply for Fiancée visa (it is called K-1 visa) for her before she enters the states then she can get into the country and get SSN. The K-1 visa is usually issued at the same day you apply for her and it is valid for 90 days so make your arrangements to marry her within that time frame.

If you really want to marry her do as ninja said. Drive down to Mexico and they will marry you there anyday as long as you have some cash. Although I think Vegas works the same way, Money talks.

I thought about that but she is scared that she will not be able to get back in the US. We are not sure if a Mexican marriage will stand in the US. It sounds like we need an immigration attorney. Shit !

Just give Vegas a try. You might get lucky. I think as long as she has a U.S I.D you will be ok.
