    Most underrated actor

What actor do you think deserves to be in more movies and that is generaly underrated?
Actors that used to be in lots of movies, but no more, fits the bill aswell if you think they should be in more movies now.

Those that pop into my mind is

Sam Neill(no one plays crazy in a more perfect way).
    Christopher Walken
    Ben Kingsley
    Mickey Rourke

Also the guy from "The Believer" is a pretty damn good actor.

Ryan Gosling is his name I believe.

Nick Stahl from Terminator 3 is good 2. Check him out in Bully. He does a impeccable performance.

Underrated: Steve Buscemi - He's fantastic in loads of films but I never hear anyone rave about him.

Overrated: Nicholas Cage - Overacts horribly in everything I've seen him in.

Agreed, also joaquin pheonix is finally getting some praise with "cash", but when you love to hate someone(ala gladiator) you know they are great actors. I use to say the same stuff about ed norton and now he is recognized.

Agreed. His role in Gladiator is probably the best performance I have ever seen by an actor. He deserved the award, not Russell Crowe.

Yeah, he is as I kept thinking I recognized him before. He plays his roles so well and differently it is hard to know it is the same guy. Obi in SW, Big Fish, recently the Island.

yeah, and then he's got a really creepy role in "shallow grave", and he's kinda of lousy antihero in "trainspotting" (one of the best movies of all time imo) and some other shit.

i think big fish really shows his virtuosity. he plays a caricature of a folk hero to a t, yet somehow doesn't come of as cheesy or goofy.
