    womans hormones/birth control

my wife is currently taking a progesterone birth control pill that the doctor told us wouldnt mess w/ her sex drive and when he told us i thought uh oh progesterone doesnt help my sex drive at all. but he assured us that it would effect it, well he was wrong!!!! this sh1t is driving me crazy she will give me some but she is just not intrested in sex right now so it is not really too fulfilling you know. we used to have the best sex all the damn time but ever since she started on these pills it has changed big time. i am about to say screw the birth control and take our chances but then again we have a todler at home already and want to wait a bit before we have another one. do any ladies have any suggestions as to what to do? supplement dhea? i heard that works ok but i havent heard about its use alongside progesterone pills. i am not wearing a freaking condom either so thats out of the question. her last pills were just estrogen of some sort and she didnt have as bad of a problem w/ those.. anyone???

shes not having me getting a vasectomy she still wants more babies even though i dont! and she doesnt want to risk freezing them. i think we may try the diaphram but she needs to tell the doctor that i have 9 inches of love and it might just not give me enough room

Different pills have different levels of hormones. There is OrthoEvra Lo which is a lower dose of hormone option in regards to the pill. There are different types of BC altoghether... the patch, the nuva-ring, an implant, a shot or even the IUD which releases small amounts of progesterone throughout the cycle. As for no hormone at all... your best bet is a condom, female condom or the diaphram but chances are if she talks to her doctor she can figure out a good solution. There really are TONS of options available for her - esp. if she has good health insurance.

To clear the air... "the books get very nice and firm".. hormones will do that to SOME women... but not all. That's like saying all women's breasts get larger during pregnancy... And not all women like getting a period 4 times a year. Sometimes I period is a constant reminder that you're NOT pregnant. To some women it's a lifeline... even if it's a pain in the <ahem> for guys.

    progesterone-only will cut sex drive.

estrogen-only therapy will too.. but for different reasons.

Estrogen-only therapy causes this because it increases SHBG.. which reduces her already low (cus she's female) free-test levels namely.

um.. lemme do some research and holla back at you ok?

    Nark

p.s. my question to you.. if she had no prob on the estrogen-only therapy.. why not switch back to it?
