    I've decided I'm DonE w/ cigarettes...

As of May 10, 2006, I have decided to kick this horrible f*cking habit that has taken a toll on my body for the last 9 years of my life. Considering I am only 21 yrs old, well...you can guess it's had a sure affect on my lifestyle. I have had asthma since birth. I know I shouldn't have even started especially with that kind of condition. I can't go back and change the past, but I can start TODAY and look to the future.

I'm doing it most importantly for myself, but also for my friends and family who have been encouraging me to stop since I started. I will need all the support I can get, and I hope I have all of yours. Thanks!

When you curb smoking (and binge drinking for that matter), you see the results in you performance for the better - much better. And you start to notice other people's filthy habits - like coming into the gym smelling like a cigarette and smoke-filled lungs... it just seems even more stupid when it ain't you anymore...

You'll never get 100 percent performance while inhaling cigarette smoke all day... it cuts out one of the most important supplements ever - OXYGEN!

You've been smoking since you were 12 years old?!?!?!? What the hell?! You are lucky you don't have serious health problems. Why would you start smoking when your lungs were still DEVELOPING?

Good job on quitting, though. I smoke about a pack a month and I would cut down on them even more but I love cigarettes. I figure I'm not doing THAT much damage and I'll quit entirely in a couple years.

This will more than likely be my plan of action.

Yea, at 12. I suppose I wasn't going full throttle at like half a pack a day until I was 15...but anyway. Still horrible. Hope you end up kicking it too! I feel so much better all around in just 2 days...

good stuff man. glad to hear you quit cold turkey. so many people fail to quite cause they slowly cut down, and don't make an exact point where "that's it". "cutting down" never works from what i've witnessed. cold turkey is the only way i've ever seen a person successfully quit.

having been a smoker myself (for a little under 2 years in my teenage years), i can tell you it's not as hard as you think, especially when you're into a lifestyle that will seriously reap the benefit of you kicking the habit. also, have you started coughing up all the crap in your lungs yet? as the cilia in your throat and bronchial tubes start working again (yes, the cigarettes literally make them completely innefective for filtering pollutants entering the lungs), you'll be coughing up all the nasty stuff smoking has filled your lungs with. when you see that stuff, that alone oftentimes makes people realize what they were doing to themselves and keeps them from ever even thinking of going back.

as far as words of encouragement, i never once cared to go back to smoking. depending on the person, after about 3-6 months typically, you'll actually become very sensitive to cig smoke, and won't be able to stand the smell. when people told me about that, i didn't realize just how right they were until i got to that point myself. after that every time i'd go to a club/bar and smell it, it just really disgusts me, and when i come home and smell it on my clothes, it shows how putrid of a habit it really is. to be honest, looking back i really wonder how i ever could have liked them?

well, i wish you luck, but seems as if you don't need it. enjoy the fresh air bro!

    Congrats!
And be sure to monitor the other areas of your life as habits are readily transferable. Not these necessarily apply to you, but the primary areas to watch are: eating, drinking, gambling and shopping.
    Congrats again!

I havent smoked in 3 months. It is still tough, but that lets me know why I have to quit. If I smoke now, it will be all the harder to not smoke tomorrow.

It is a great time to start a cycle if your old enough. Youll eat like a moose! I gained 42 pounds on my cycle when quitting cigs. Wasnt all muscle, but I loved it anyway. Felt pretty good to be that much bigger than myself. Anyway good luck.

My ciliary escalator hasn't kicked back in just yet...however, as an asthmatic, I'm usually coughing up mucus anyhow. I really can't wait to see what kind of combos I'll see in the future! Thanks for the encouragement.

Ya know, that sounds very tempting...but I've decided to wait until I'm over a lean 200lbs before I cycle.

I'm on day 3...and feeling great! Haven't had a real urge to have another, yet. I could definitely tell a difference in my breathing and a more relaxed heart rate while doing cardio this morning.

Good Luck and stay away from social situations for a week or two where you encounter your friends smoking. Thats when it gets tempting. And remember your smoking friends dont want you to quit.
