Well, an easy thing to do is to fire up Word and print a memo to all employees that reads somehting like:
Due to abuse of internet privileges by some employees, we are now forced to monitor all internet usage and monitoring software has been installed on the network.
Please be aware that as of now, improper use of the company's internet privileges will be grounds for immediate termination.
We regret that such measures have to be taken, but as is often the case, everyone is affected by the exagerations of a few.
It's kind of like putting a sign that reads "house protected by alarm" on your front lawn, wether it's true or not, it still deters some.
I would still install monitoring software though... and with such a memo, nobody can contest being fired as they have been duly warned.
