Well i hate to burst your bubble. but a 1600 to 1 is a terrible contrast ratio. Regular plasmas have almost 10,000 to 1, normally for a contrast ratio. Now not to take away from your success. Because yes that is cheap, but if you truly want sick deals, go to circuit City, on like a special day, i e, black friday..shit like that...you can get a 42 inch plasma regular retail at like almost 3k for almost 1800, i should know, i used to work there lol...but enjoy the tv. The contrast ratio just helps you in really dark scenes...a higher contrast ratio, youll be able to see like pictures on the wall of a really dark room, shit like that, in a low one....ull only see darkness andu might be able to see the walls...so no biggy! Enjoy!

I recently purchased a 50" hd toshiba plasma for $2499, $800 bucks off the regular price. There's lots of good sales on right now on tv's.

Blue ray is true high definition...and an HDMI cable is the only true way to run HD, people tell you, you can run it through componet cables (blue green red) but there bullshittin you, and the same THing with a DVI cable...see a dvi cable, only caries video, so you need another cable to carry audio, (5.1 surround is whats supported by HD) The HDMI caries audio and video, this is why its true hd, you want a good cable, get it from MONSTER, HDMI, there about 149 for a 12 foot cable, and UP for better quality, but, there gold, all the way through, most cables are just gold tipped! Theres my lil vocab class for you, for guys that didnt understand!

you can output to the component cables at 1080i, 1080p requires the use of HDMI.

There is also no need to buy Monster anything with HDMI, it is a serial based platform, and +/- voltages representing the binary. It doesnt have attenuation like a analog cable such as RCA would.

Your comment of 1080i...its not true high definition, high definition begins at 1080p

oh and your comment about how you dont need MONSTER...There are plenty other advantages besides being godl through. Much thicker cable, Its also has (some big word i forget) but basically the casing around the cable, allows it to never ever crease, which means no kinks in the wire...plus they have lifetime waranties

High definition... It is simply a matter of pixels. 1280x720 with there being full frames on the screen instead of half of them is 720 progressive. 1920x1080 interlaced is certaintly high definition. 1080 progressive is just full frames on the screen at once at 24/30/60Hz
