    I'll Never Forget Last Night...

(And no, I did not have a threesome if that's what you're thinking!)

I absolutely love to play pick up basketball at my local gym. I never played organized basketball while growing up, but always wanted to. I'm honestly not that great, but I can run the floor pretty well and grab a few rebounds. I'm only 5'7, so lets just say that I'm not the first guy that gets picked when establishing teams!

So I had the ball outside the three point line along where the baseline meets the left part of the arch. My teammate came over to set a pick and I saw an opening along the baseline. I then drove to the hoop and in doing so, a helpside defender approached me as I neared the basket. My initial plan was to lay the ball high off of the glass, but the angle in which I was driving to the hoop would have made it impossible. I then decided to just take it strong and absorb the contact for a potential "and 1" play. I did a two footed jump hop as I drove and cockeyed the ball behind my head with one hand to keep the defender from blocking the ball. In doing so, I somehow absorbed some of his upward momentum which allowed me to elevate a few inches higher than normal. And what do you know....I dunked the ball. It was NOT a clean dunk as the ball rattled around the rim before falling. But it felt FREAKIN' great!

I do have a very good vertical leap for my height. I have dunked a volleyball in the past, but my hands are entirely too small and my vertical leap is not quite good enough to dunk an official mens basketball (I back-iron it everytime). I guess I got the same feeling that some of you guys get when you put up 300lbs on the bench press for the first time. I even received a few high fives from the members of the other team. Okay, that's enough chest pounding for the day!

    Grace and Peace,
    Mavsluva

Thats awesome man. I know that had to feel good. WHen I was dieting for my show last year and was really lean I worked at a sports training facility and one of the black guys in there was raggin me for being a "white boy who probably couldnt jump" Well, we pulled out the vertical jump measuring thingy (or whatever you call it LOL) and I jumped a 35" vertical. He about shit, and said, "Well, maybe white boy CAN jump" lol I then went over to the basketball goal and falt-footed two-handed dunked the ball. It feels good to jump high! hehe. I can only do it when I am light and lean though in pre-contest mode. Not in the offseason. I couldn't jump 6" in the offseason with my fat butt LOL

I know exactly what you mean, spound. When I'm a little too heavy, my verticle leap suffers greatly. It's good to hear from you by the way!

I have one of those industrial Goalrilla basketball systems in my driveway that I abuse a few times a week. The neighborhood boys and I lower it to 9ft and play '21' for hours. I've been using those jump soles for a long time now and they really do work as advertised by the way. (www.jumpusa.com) If you've never used them and want to give them a try, do NOT attach them to low top shoes such as running shoes. You'll will ruin your ankles! I also jog around my neighborhood while wearing one of those weight vest. My neighbors think that I'm crazy, including my wife. Oh the things we do for fun!

I bet thats an awesome feeling man, I take to the air like an elephant so I don't plan on being able to dunk anytime soon lol.
