    When Did You Know?

This is a question to all you older and settled members on this forum... I'm just wondering when you decided that what you were doing (jobwise) was what you wanted to do for the rest of your life. Or when you decided what direction you were going to take in college... Right now I'm just stuck in a rut and have no idea what I want to do and just feel like I'm mooching off my parents by working part time and going to school taking general ed... Lol, I wish I could just know what I'd do best at... It should be an innate ability =/

There are two questions that you should ask yourself in choosing what to do with the rest of your life. They are:

    1. What am I good at?
    2. What do I really enjoy doing?

Your answers should help you build a plan for addressing both your studies as well as your future profession. And don't get down about it. There are people that are way older than you that still don't know what they're doing with their lives.

    Good luck!

Haha lmao, that was a great one, I'm suprised I didn't think of it... But yeh, Ionno, I'm really good at writing stories, but I seem to have story ADHD... As soon as I start writing one it'll look really good, but then I'll want to start on something else and abandon it, lol

The thing that I really want to get into eventually is motivational speaking. However, it's important to accomplish somethings before I do that so I have some credentials.

Dude, don't sweat it. I just turned 38 last week. I have been in my career now for about 3 years. and love it. Before that I went from country to country around the world, working in a variety of jobs. I wouldn't change a day of it. with the exception of being taken hostage in Columbia, that was a bad couple days.

My biggest piece of advice, develop a great work ethic, treat every company that you work for as though it was your own. And what I mean by that is, look at your co workers and how they work, and how would you feel if you had to pay them out of your own pocket for what they do. (90% of the people out there are SLACKERS). Then think about how you work while your on the clock. seperate yourself from the others and you will do well.
besides from that. enjoy your time off from work. enjoy life, one day it will be taken away.

I love my job but i'm not sure that i want to do it forever. The key is to keep advancing yourself. What you want now you might not in 5 years. But keep taking steps forward don't stand still,

i wanted to be a fireman since i was 6 years old. and a marine since about 15,joined the corps at 17, stayed 4 years, got out and joined a reserve unit in about 84, did 21years and retired. i got on as a paid firefighter at 26, and retired from the trade at 50. but i am ruined! i was used and abused from both careers. my people tolerance is at zero.
