    agree with this above.. also ***ends on MOS... if it was impossible to get big then everyone in the army would be skinny... which is far from true. Getting real big in some MOS' will make it harder for you too.

    one other thing you didn't say is how big are you and what do you consider big??... you could be a lean small person and if you are, it is guaranteed you will put on some size by just doing the normal routine and not really trying. Too many variables to predict. old diet before you go in, etc..

    I'm currently 150lbs 11% BF 18YO and I would consider anything over 170lbs ripped big. My diet and routine is ok I seem to always go up in strength. I think the training in the army will be a great change for my body but my only concern is the diet I mean it's hard enough to eat the amount of food needed as it is but I would probably need even more because of all the cals burned when running.

    ***ending on your history in the gym and diet at home before going in.... you should gain 10lbs your first 6 mos at your age and stats... like the rest said, make good choices and work hard... when I wasn't on ***loyment I would hit the gym hardcore... I went in at 155 and i maintained about 165 throughtout... toward the end I got to about 170....

    still think things like MOS/Unit, etc.. all facto in heavy.. I was 11B and always running and road marches.. in the field all the time.. I could never hit a peak in the gym because it would get interupted with different ***loyments/training.. so it starts with YOU first... how much are you going to dedicate... then it is MOS (how much time)... then it is unit (some don't train as often as others.... I was on ***loyment around 7 mos a year and on real missions there was no gyms set up... places like Panama and other established places all have that stuff set up for you...

    I am assuming you are in the US... I don't know how Army life is for other countries..

    What are those military packed meals called? MRE? meals ready to eat I think.

    anyway, my friend is there. he eats those, and I believe is pack with 1200cals.

    Yes they do have 1200 calories... But trust me eating those definately gets old after a while, and the meals themselves are so small your always hungry after you finish it off.

    As for worrying about eating at basic//ait all I can say is shovel a bunch of food in your mouth, and then wash it down with some water. Get food that doesn't require much chewing ie; mashed potatoed, noodles, oatmeal, etc.

    you ever had an MRE? Trust me you dont get good results from eating plastic.
