    broken nose? confused

Well last Friday or Saturday my buddy was being jumped by some 3 idiots at a bar, i jump in, knock some kid out then get suckerpunched in the face, hurt like a mofo...my nose bled for about 30 seconds...hit that kid, then knocked another one cold flat jesus punch, out for like 10...anyways....

its been 4 days and my nose does not look broken, however I cannot breathe out of one side now, it is still a little swollen. When I push on my nostril I feel pressure on what feels like my top gum above my two front teeth...but nothing when I directly touch my gums...If I hold the good side of my nose I can barely get wind out the other, having to blow really hard and when I suck in I get this weird nose? Can any e.n.t. or meds help me ?

Usually the part of the nose that breaks, is the small bone that runs from btween the eyes to approx., 1-1 1/2 inches toward the nostrils. If your septum, which is cartilage more or less, was damaged, you just have to let the swelling go down. Can you breath out of it? Try to use a q-tip and slide it up the nostril slowly and see how far it will go. The inside of the nose could have been lacerated and couldn't drain. You could have a large blood clot occluding the nasal passage. Try to blow out hard and see what happens. If the septum is deviated, you just live with it unless breathing is hindered. Then, you may have to have surgery which hurts like he##. Hope some of this helps.

A deviated septum is a common physical disorder of the nose, most frequently caused by impact trauma, such as by a blow to the face. It can also be a congenital disorder.
The nasal septum is the membranous ridge of cartilage in the nose that separates the nasal cavity into the two nostrils. Normally, the septum lies centrally, and thus the nasal passages are symmetrical. A deviated septum is an abnormal condition in which the top of the cartilaginous ridge leans to the left or the right, causing obstruction of the affected nasal passage. The condition can result in poor drainage of the sinuses, leading to frequent infections or the growth of nasal polyps. Patients can also complain of difficulty breathing easily, or of sleeping disorders such as snoring or sleep apnea.
It is common for nasal septums to ***art from the exact centerline; the septum is only considered deviated if the shift is substantial or is adversely affecting the patient. Many people with a deviation are unaware they have it until some discomfort is produced. But by itself a deviated septum can go undetected for years and thus be without any real need for correction.
In most cases a deviated septum can be corrected with a minor surgical procedure known as a septoplasty, which enters through the nostrils and cuts away the obtruding matter. The surgery is performed quickly but the patient may take several days to recover.

Its where the blood pools. You can actually hit your cheek and end up with a black eye.

Yupp I am with your friend here... I have a pretty big nose and it gets broken quite often.
As for youre eyes going all black and all that jazz when youre nose is broken, yes it can happen. However, most of the time when my nose is broken I hardly even know it until and x-ray is done. Its pointless for me to hav x-rays on my nose now because the last time I had an X-ray about two months ago it looked like just a bag of random bones. But on the outside it is straight as a arrow...I only have one little bump on the top of my nose. In the most part unless you look closely you canèt tell my nose has been broken a few times. ( once by the x wife, she had a mean hook)

personaly speaking, sometimes after a fight (boxing) i got swollen pollops in my nasal cavity which gave me a blocked up nose effect.

they started to last longer and longer till i had them removed.

as for broken nose,if you can push the tip of your nose towards your face without pain its not broken,if you do feel any pain go docs.

is it the first time you got a belting?

ya, first time ever in a fight i got nailed that hard...nose not deformed at all just bruised...i can breathe out of the nostril now though I think it was dried up blood because I was tasting it for about 4 days after I would wake up in the morning...I'm good now though...thanks for all the input guys
