Thanks dude, been looking for this.
welcome.
One of the worst things Ive ever seen, cant wait to see Kimbo get his ass kicked. Ray M was in there for a check just like Hoyce with Hughes.

The fight was not anything i expected it to be.. I agree with BigGuns101 Ray was in it for the check and nothing else!
wasn't a shitty fight at all.. I have seen 100's of fights 10 times worse than this one throughout the years of UFC,MMA... Kimbo played it straight and didn't try and exchange with a bigger harder puncher... That is the way you would fight a boxer.... try and smother them before they connect.... as you can see kimbo tried to throw some punches and mercer was easily blocking them and if Kimbo stepped back like he use to in his street fights Mercer would of polished him off easily....
I still think that when kimbo came charging in like that Mercer should have did some side stepping to keep it on the feet and use the ring more...mercer was much bigger and Kimbo took it to the ground smartly....
You are going to hear the shitty fight comment continously because of the Kimbo haters out there. The man won't get a break because these cats are jealous of his notireity.Originally Posted by rockinred

Awesome.. cant wait to see more Kimbo MMA fights!

I like to watch bangers, but I would like to see Mercer display some skills and learn to control the ring more than what he did here. If he wants to fight again he needs to understand that no one will stand toe to toe with him and if he wants to punch it out, he needs to learn how to keep it off the mat. Definitley easier said than done.. he probably figured Kimbo was the best chance of a guy wanting to keep it standing up and sure enough Kimbo's corner advised him against it. guaranteed no one else will stand up with him.Originally Posted by BgMc31
Did you see mercer throw kimbo over with that stregnth? Man Mercer looked huge next to Kimbo and Kimbo is not a little guy.

I know it was his first fight, but Kimbo looked very impressive. Something that I seen in him in that fight is his will to win and aggressiveness. Those two combinations alone make him dangerous with his size. If he continues to train with Bas and company, watch out MMA.
I personally would like to see him fight Kimo, Cabbage, or Wes Sims after he gets a few more fights under his belt. Any thoughts?
I would like to see him fight Brock lesnar.

I'm not a bandwagon jumper. I give credit where credit is due. You knock Kimbo without knowing the guy. Your perception is based purely on his ass whoopings that his crew has placed on the internet. Even during those fights he shows great sportsmanship even in his loss to Cannon.
Ha, ha, ha, the little cowboy comment is laughable. If that is you in your avatar you should reserve the little comment for yourself! You can always check out my pic on Jesse Marunde's forum (World's Strongest Man runner up in 05) and see how I stack up to him.

I would like to see him fight a couple grapplers. Brock Lesnar would be interesting. That could be a huge money fight. I think with his agressiveness and strength (coupled with his size) he is very dangerous against other strikers. But when matched with a grappler would really show how well he would do overall in MMA.

+1.. When Kimbo vids surfaced this forum many would knock his hustle because he did not fight under professional regulations.. Now that he finally has, and has won, respect is still not being given..Originally Posted by BgMc31

But kimbo is a boxer and he would have got his ass whipped had he fought mercer standing up like he fought those dudes on the net but those dudes cant fight very good anyway if it was boxing match he would have got beatin hands down. And whats he doing calling out the Tank. The tank is old and can be easily taken down but if kimbo tries to take him standing up kimbo is going to be in alot of trouble.
And not to say any thing about bas rutten but you can give the guy your training all of the knowledge about striking in the world but ''fatigue can make anyone into a coward'' or quitter like what happened against cannon. Besides look what happened to Mark kerr rutten couldnt do anything for him.
Yeah he might not be conditioned yet, but Kimbo's got heart and looks like he has worked hard to take this sport seriously.
He's still got a lot to prove in MMA, but I could see him blowing up very easily if he continues to work hard.
Damn bro that is harsh. Kimbo did what he was supposed to do. If you want to bitch about anyone, bitch about Mercer.Originally Posted by BigGuns101

Mercer is a man way past his prime and hes completely shot as a fighter. The guy was in wars with many of the top heavyweight boxers in the 90s. That will take a toll on yo. He didnt take this fight seriously. Kimbo trained for 2 months with Bas Rutten who is a legend in MMA.
THAT is why i hate kimbo....brings out all these stupid "fans" from his online thug fights and brings them to mma. So we will get more and more "boo's " when people are doing good ground game just cus there isn't enough blood or "banging".
Just look at how many people only post in kimbo threads and never in any other threads in this forum.
This is my favorite Kimbo fight, check it out if you haven't already seen it...

^^And this is why Kimbo doesn't deserve the attention he's getting. Guys train for years and devote their lives to it and don't get attention like Kimbo....
Where is mn_fighter??????? I want his reaction to "slice"

The fact remains that the no matter how well the guy performs he will not get a break and to me that's stupid. Apparently you think that standup is bogus and that makes no sense to me. Another point, he brings the same sort of fans to the sport that Chuck Liddell, Wandy Silva, and CroCop bring. And those are the fans who love banging. That is what makes this sport as popular as it is. Purest love the ground game and the BJJ side, but casual fans see that as boring because they don't know what it takes to master the ground game, but EVERYONE loves a good knockdown drag out slug fest. You can't deny that!
BTW, I post in most MMA and all boxing threads.

Brock Lesnar was offered a shot with the Viking even though he only played high school football. The list goes on and on. Boxing champion Nate Cambell didn't start boxing until he was 25, should he not been allowed to box because of his late start? Kimbo has to start somewhere. Kimbo obviously has been street fighting for years. Just like Lesnar been a wrestler for years. Don't hate on Kimbo because his team knew how to market him. If there are guys out there who train for years and are monster's like Kimbo, post their vids online and begin to market themselves like he did. Tank Abbot is still popular and he's nothin but a banger. What's the difference? He deserves all the attention he gets, good or bad!

didn't say all his fans were stupid... just refering to the stupid fans that he brings out ... the ones who are in it for the blood and knock down and not the technique / game. I'm all for a good striking game...i don't even mind a bit of wild man punches like wandy...but i enjoy it for the sport ... not cus I want to see some one get hurt or "jacked up"...the people who watch that kimbo sh*t are usually that type of person. I mean hell look at his fight with the guy he hit his eye bad. They zoom in because that is what they were trying to market to.Originally Posted by BgMc31

I definately see the logic in your side of it, BgMc. I guess what is troublesome to me is all the people who still see mma as "human cock fighting" to quote McCain. Having a guy like Kimbo marketed for his debut by showing his street fights on promotional trailers doesn't help mma win over those who still see it as barbaric.
Kimbo, by fighting Mercer & training the way he did earns my respect. He executed a game plan and capitalized on it...that I can respect. Being popular & liking him because he beats people down in street fights isn't respectable and certainly isn't mixed martial arts, to me at least.

so many jelous f#cks on here. people are sad that no matter how much juice they shoot and how many years they have been training some black guy with minor training would completly destroy them.
I'm far from "jealous" or "sad", bro. I manage to get by on a day-to-day basis just fine knowing that I don't street fight, nor will I be involved in street fights in my life. Further, I am fully content knowing that Kimbo and a shit load of other people could "completely destroy [me]".
Assuming your comment was directed at me, I have no room for jealousy in my life- it's a weak trait to have in the first place.
Thanks for clarifying your statement Zimmy and TR'05. I also dislike those who look at MMA or any fighting sport as a blood sport. Unfortunately those guys do follow Kimbo, but those guys also follow Liddell, Wandy, and boxers like Gatti, and Mickey Ward.
Kimbo is a product of his crew's hype. And you know the saying "all publicity is good publicity". Unfortunately he wouldn't be where he is now if he was portrayed in the same light as Randy Coulture. But in reality, if you really meet the guy, he is a cool cat, that I've seen back down from a fight in a club. Not because he was scared, but he realized he had nothing to prove. Now put up the right amount of money and I'm sure he would have fought the guy, LOL!!!
Society has become soft and will always see MMA as human cock fighting. That's the world we live. Be soft, please everyone who cries so they can get votes.
I don't agree with backyard brawls. Very unsafe, but the guy likes to fight and this gives him an outlet to do so. So in reality, this might stop his backyard brawls and save these non-healthcare asses getting their ass beat going up against Kimbo and save me some tax dollars!
i guess I got issues.. I like fights... backyard, street, boxing, mma, wrestling, rough sports, you name it, if it has contact sign me up ... I am not advocating for saving the cage figting from human cock fighting perspective... any pansy who sees it that way doesn't watch it or compete anyways, so one less...it is not a sport for everyone like main stream sports on nbc/espn, etc... so what?

I dont like kimbo and im sad to see that he did quite well in this MMA event =

What exactly do you guys mean by he did well? In that he beat the crap out of a old washed up guy? Yeah like it is that hard to overwhelm someone like that anyway. Now I am not saying throw him in there with some high class MMA fighters, but put him around someone who can hang with him and not be overwhelmed. Put in a young guy who isn't polished up just like Kimbo isn't, I want to see how he fares when the other guy won't just back down and take the beating.
Great link,thanks.

Kimbo fought a smart fight by taking it to the ground and submitting him. I'm sure as he gets more training his promoters will put him in with better competition, but the guy has to start somewhere. Stop hatin!!!
