Amusing moment in gym

I was in the gym this morning and thought I'd share something that tickled me.

A guy comes up to me and asks me to spot him for DB bench press. I agree so we go over to his bench. I ask if he wants me to pass one of the DBs to him.

Now, you know when you get that feeling within a few seconds of asking for someone to spot you that you've made a mistake based on their response? Well, I got that at this moment when he made me repeat myself twice.

So after a moments awkwardness where we don't understand each other it evidently dawns on him what I mean and he goes, "oh, sorry, bud, I gotcha, yeah that'd be great" (or something similar). Well he picks up the left DB and sits down with it on his thigh, then pats his right thigh and goes, "right here, fella", motioning for me to put the other DB on his right leg. Then he lifts it up himself.

I guess he thought he was humoring me.

You should have said " ok bud" you can just head out and I will do your workout for you.... lol

Which actually would probably be more effective because from the sounds of it he dosnt have a freakin clue.......

He wanted you to put it on his leg...what's wrong with that? I dont ever use a spot but I mean I even see Coleman doing that. His spotter picks it up when hes already sitting and puts them on his thighs then he can kick them back himself when he leans back.

On a serious note I have to agree with Bino and I as well rarely ask for a spot.

I've trained alone for 5/6 years now and rarely ask for spots. Maybe Coleman does it, but I wouldn't dream of asking someone to put the DB on my leg - anyone can do that for themself. Some people struggle to get DBs up to their shoulders to start the workout, but surely anyone can lift it onto their thigh.

It's not roll on the floor funny, just made me laugh cos it was a mixture of confusion, laziness (in my eyes) and a bit bizarre.
