cheap way to get online

I need the cheapest way to get online and watch videos on youtube and check mail and do the whole message board thing, thats about it, i have a personal computer but i want something to use while on the couch or in the bedroom. would it be better to get a cheap ass 300 dollar old used laptop or to get a 300 table pc

IMO you get more bang for your buck with a PC, better upgradability, usually more RAM as well as expandability options. A laptop with a wireless internet card can be nice though.

i have a laptop but the cheapest one i could find at the time was 700 then it was the wireless card for the lap top which was $50 and you would need a wireless receiver for the other comp which is $50-100...so your looking around $800 you might be able to pick up a used one cheap on craigslist or want ad or just get a table pc like you said...but i do love my laptop. i take it around the house and on my deck when its warm out

PC's are so cheap now a days man.. Get on Ebay.. buy a pc with a wireless NiC card and steal your neighbors wireless internet hehe

I ment to compare a laptop or a tablet pc not table haha, need to figure out wich way is cheaper haha

I agree with Amorphic. A desktop is a better deal but it all depends what you want. Laptops are cheap these days. If the PC you buy is too cheap ass you may not have to many upgrade options eg: my mate got a Dell for cheap and it had no pci express. Another option is to build your own (not hard at all) and ncix is a good source for parts. That way you could even skimp on paying for a O\S and use linux.....

its been years since i messed with any linux, i was a kid and replaced my parents windows with it, they werent to happy with me, what about the tablet pc the litle touch screen deals that you can get online with?

Yer they are ok, I would not get one myself though. Would you use the fuctionality of the tablet? What you could do is go to a supplier that offers a good return policy and tr one out. I used to do that with CostCo and get a new PC every six months for the kids.
