I'm in my Nutrition for Athletes class this morning and we start talking about anabolic steroids. She starts out by saying, "they really do work," but that is the last bit of "good" talk she gives them. She goes on showing all these negative side affects of them, leaving out some major points. For instance the testicular shrinkage and the man boobs, she failed to say how the shrinkage was "temporary" and would go back to normal, and how man boobs are easily taken care of with certain drugs. She talked about liver cancer and heart disease which I just let in one ear and out the next. And the final thing for me to call bs, was when she showed the class this picture and said this is what steroids can do to you... Clearly photoshopped... I spoke up and said, "that's not real, that's Marcus Ruhl, and he doesn't look like that." And she's all, "No, it is real." And got annoyed when other people called bs and told everyone to be quiet and continued on. Sorry, had to rant... I just hope she puts me in the anabolic steroid group for a research paper we have to write in a couple weeks so I can.... "enlighten" everyone...

kinda sad.. or funny... depends.. here is another thing.. just think how many alledged authorities you have listened to in other classes that gave you some kind of bull like that on a different subject and you had no idea, so you took their word on it....

I go to Grossmont College here in San Diego... It's a community college and I am not exxagerating a bit... It was in her powerpoint presentation and she said this is what steroids can do to you and you cannot get that way naturally, and I responded very similar to what I posted before, after thinking for about 5 seconds whether she was serious or not, when she clearly was when the class erupted in talking and laughter...

how bout you enlighten her on steroids and how they work chemically in your body. How your body needs nutrients in order to grow and steroids just help. show pictures of genetic freaks like IFBB pro's and then show an average joe steroid user. The you could start tlaking of the differences of steroids and how they are derived, used, proper ancilleries to take while using them, safe time on/off, and if they are so deadly then why are aids patients and cancer patients using them to increase LBM? Put her in a corner where she can't back out becuase she doesnt know. Bring in articles to prove her "theory's" wrong. I hope you do get put in that group to do that research paper becuase I despise people who put AAS to shame and know NOTHING about them.

You're right I forgot to mention the part about roid rage! Thank you for reminding me... Okay in the presentation (don't know how I forgot this part) she mentioned how they give you roid rage... And then gave an example of a football player a few years back who was taking it and one day flipped out in the gym and began throwing stuff around trying to hit people and the police had to come and hold him down....

She was a former gymnist in college and is a coach, she also does long distance running... But it's obvious she isn't too knowledgable when it comes to steroids or supplements for that matter. A student asked if she'd recommend Creatine and she said, "I wouldn't... I believe in the old do it the natural way without getting an edge..." Needless to say... I wanted to slap her.
