Famous line...."ive only had a few drinks,im fine.....i can drive.....

    hey guys,

i just wanted to make a thread for all of us to remind us to be responsible when we choose to drink.if you plan on drinking and going out with your friends, find a DD,dont drive after a few drinks.

    i know,i know,your fine,you can handle it,you just have a buzz going your not drunk,right???? right........wrong!

everyone always thinks it can't and will never happen to them, but trust me,it does happen and it will happen if you drink and drive.

i dont mean to sound like a fvcking mother hen here, but seriously......because i chose to drink and drive after only having 4 mixed drinks in 4 hours time and drove home after being up at 5am and working til 5pm,then havin 4 drinks.i said i was fine and was just tired from working all day and drove home at 11:30pm.

i remember seeing the clock at 11:37pm June 15th '05 and it was the last time i was ever able to use my legs again.i fell asleep at the wheel and rolled into a cornfield at 65mph and rolled 5x and ended up in the passenger floorboards, even with my shoulder belt on.it took someone 2 1/2 hours to find me while i sat there helpless in my floorboard with a spinal cord injury,T4-T5 Fracture.

i was only 22 years old and i was just getting my life together.i had just gotten out of prison after a year and a half and 3months of house arrest, then 3 months later i had my accident.

So now im a Paraplegic for the rest of my life,no chance of ever walking again in my lifetime.

just thought i would share my story here cuz i know there are alot of guys here my age and a little younger(im 25 now)and i know what it's like to have someone say to you"no,you've been drinking now give me your keys" and you refuse because you can "handle it" .well i thought i could too,now look at where i am.it had to do with how tired i was from working and being up for 18hours and then having a few drinks, and then thinking i was fine to drive home.i think if i didn't have the drinks i would have made it home though.

so yeah, some of you may not even think twice about what ive said, but hopefully it saves a few of you from going through all the shit i have to go through now on a daily basis.

    later!

    Adam.

man that shit sucks. so many times i made it home and i dont even remember how i did it. i consider myself lucky and always try to think like your saying now days. sometimes i feel like a geek, but i already had 1 dwi and dont want another.

plus we have dwi checkpoints like every other weekend. its just not worth it trying to drink and drive.

at least your still positive bro, you got a lot of life left.

    keep your head up bro!

I would consider it common sense to not drink and drive, with that said i'm sure plenty need to be told again because common sense has left people years ago.

What was your blood alcohol level, because your liver can break down one drink per hour, so if you had 4 drinks in 4 hours it sounds like you were just tired, unless you were getting double shots. I got a DUI when I was 18 and it was probably the best thing that ever happened to me, it was a big wake up call for me and I'm sure if I never got caught I would have continued to do it and probably wrapped my car around a telephone pole or something like that

well voice of reason, glad to see you revised your posts. must have realized how ignorant you were being and that everyone else on this board would have hated you with a passion for posting what you did.

    Voice...

so why the sudden change of heart??? you call me a bitch, tell me **** off with sob story, and go cry on the Special Olympic forums.....???

i appreciate the support dirtball,i see u must have read my post in ur thread.

BTW,i may be new to THIS board, but i've been on these boards for 10 years on and off,so you can drop the newb shit.and you've been on here for 3 years and only post 81x??? wow,u have contributed to soooo many people.i see guys on here for 3 months and have more posts than that.

ALSO,i dont come here to tell some sob story and hope to get some big brother pity out of it.i do it to try an put things into perspective for others to show them that their life could be alot worse than what it is now.and in no way am i saying am i badass by saying that, just trying to motivate others into doing what they love to do,which is Bodybuild.is that not why were here?to help eachother in doing what we love to do best?

so yeah, you can flame away on me,call me a bitch, tell me to fvck off,and go cry on the Special Olympic forums(you might as well have called me a cripple)but im not going anywhere,i happen to enjoy this board and happen to enjoy helping others in any way i can.

as for you Voice,i pray that you or your family never has to go through 1/2 of the tragedy and pain that my whole family, not just me,has had to endure.and im not being a dick when i say that,im being serious.i wouldn't wish any of what i have been through on my worst enemy.

so as far as this whole conversation between you and i,it's done.
