quote from a NYT article back in APR http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/30/us...ll&oref=slogin

“If Barack gets past the primary, he might have to publicly distance himself from me,” Mr. Wright said with a shrug. “I said it to Barack personally, and he said yeah, that might have to happen.”

Worst case - Obama thinks the same way
Best case - He implicitly accepts it or doesn't think its THAT bad

Additionally, if he was white and this kinda story came out he would have been OUT OF THE RACE already.
that's absurd! Every republican, including republican hero Ronald Reagan, courted and supported Strom Thurman. But none suffered because of his beliefs. The fact remains every white person knows a racist, or someone who harbors racist beliefs (not to mention referring to blacks as the n word in private or telling the occasional black joke) and every black person knows an angry black person that blames all their troubles on 'whitey' or 'the man'. That doesn't mean you subscribe to those sentiments yourself. Barack being racist would be considered self hate because he IS half white. As a matter of fact Barack wasn't raised in a stereotypical black family. His exposure to blacks was limited until after his college days (considering he was raised by a white mother in Hawai'i, and attended Ivy league college, both of which have very limited black population).

I love how far right talk show hosts (Savage, Levin, Hannity, and Limbaugh) are so excited about finding out these new revelations. The thought of a black president was really causing them and others to lose sleep. IMO this will keep Barack from obtaining the nomination and proves that this country isn't ready for a black president. Both Clinton and McCain have had some very questionable affiliations (especially Clinton), none of which can/will keep them from their party's nomination.

Shocker, never thought you'd put your 2 cents in. You seriously need to take a course in common sense logic before you ever speak directly to me again. Ok? I'll respond to you afterwards because I can't deal with ignorance at your level, thanks.

you know what, I'll give you a semi-response off the top of my head. First of all, your analogies are at a 5th grade level. You talk about someone knowing a racist as if Barack just "knows" this piece of sh!t preacher. No, he not only knows him...he was in his campaign (until yesterday), married him, baptized his kids and he went and listened to him preach hate for 20 FVCKING YEARS.

And you know what dipsh!t? Not every white person knows a racist. Maybe you want to think that, because it legitimizes every failure you are...but no, the world isn't working against you. In fact, white people would rather you succeed and rise. You know why? You're people would add to the real workforce, relieve racial tension and violent crime would drop. There is nothing white people would love more than black people getting their act together so don't drop that pity party on my doorstep.

The fact remains that if Barack was white, you'd all be calling for his head for these associations. Clearly, you uphold a double standard for racist minorities. This is why I have no respect for you. This is why people can't just get along. Whether it be white, black, asian, jew, or whatever...accepting double standard racism divides us all.

This kind of talk is unnecessary and, to be quite honest, offensive. I know you are trying to make a point but come on...

What is offensive is people perpetuating a stereotype that white people are trying to hold others back from success. Everyone benefits from groups of people bettering themselves (white trash included, the largest of all trash groups), as I pointed out already.

There's no secret white guy meeting where they are all smoking cigars lau***ng about giving blacks aids, importing drugs, and handing out weapons. Perhaps you see it that way, but that's not how it is (as far as I have seen).

But forget about his wife its his pastor that and his values that really has me concerned. His pastor of 20 years is the one of the biggest Anti-American people i have ever seen. HE WONT even put his hand over his heart and sing the pledge of allegiance!!!

And if this would of come from a white candidate main stream news would of had his ass handed to him and the NAACP and that RETARD Al sharpton and jesse jackson would have been talking lawsuit!!! And no one can say that it wouldn't of happened that way.

If you did your research you would know that he didn't ut his hand over his heart during the national anthem not the pledge of allegiance. How many sporting events have we all been to where the athletes don't put their hand on their heart during the national anthem?

Trying to convince people of the existence of systematic racism is nearly impossible if they aren't willing to see it. Anyone who states that it doesn't exist "as far as I've seen" is either blind or blinded by ignorance. Of course he/she hasn't seen it if they are white.

The Godfather actually wrote a good response on the other thread about sexually transmitted diseases that people should really read.

Interesting quote that I've posted on here before by Dr. Mfume: Black people see racism when it sometimes it doesn't exist while white ignore it when its blatantly obvious. But that doesn't dismiss the fact that it doesn't exist.

We'll get our act together as soon as you do! LoL!

Actually I think they always put them, or their hat, on their heart... other nations don't . but US does.

i'm still kind of disturbed by the fact his wife said this is the first time in her life shes proud of her country. It's ok to be an angry woman, but not an angry First Lady, she needs to be positive and set an example for folks, not stuck in some position of hating america for her privileged life of luxury. I would like to hear the Obama stance on affirmative action. How would a black person feel if they were the most qualified for a job or college entrance and it was given to someone else because they have preferable skin color? Supposedly her scores were too low for Princeton but she got in because of racial profiling. I would be ashamed to even win something based on that.

In case you haven't noticed, this is one of those 2 for the price of 1 tickets, just like the Clintons. So if you don't mind the president's wife hating 'whitey' then feel free to let it slide

I wasn't agreeing or disagreeing with your comments, only with the way they were presented...as if the majority of black people need to get their act together. As if black people don't contribute to the workforce. What the hell does the statement "your people would add to the real workforce" even mean?!

Look at the statistics (violent crime, single parent families, etc), it is a harsh reality. A reality I would like to see change. I truly believe it can happen once the finger pointing at white people subsides.

The truth remains. Go to school, work hard, and you WILL be successful no matter what color you are. I don't see what's so difficult to understand. Even the poorest people get FREE schooling and assistance. Opportunity is at everyone's doorstep. Unfortunately people are afraid to take it and would rather blame their crappy life on "the man".
