Aight, first off..... BIG THANKS to Dece70717 for finding that awesome link to the movie.. Way to be brother....

Curious as to what you guys thought of the movie. For me it was everything I thought it would be. I always thought I knew a lot about gear but I really walked away learning something new. I never had to be sold on Gear but I thought Bell did an awesome job. It was also funny for me to see him, his bro's and his folks since I grew with him. Even the pizzeria that Bell and Mr. Bell were talking at kinda made me laugh... Been there many times!
Tell you what really cracked me up was that stupid ass Senator Waxman. For someone who was the freakin lead on the council he didn't know shit, and I could see Bell's facial expression and laughed. I felt bad for the dude who lost his son, because I think he is looking for something or someone to blame and picking Juice was the easiest. I'm not gonna say he's ignorant because I can't imagine having to bury my kid, but I think anyone who watched that would make the same assumption. Anyway, I know a lot of you guys were not able to catch the movie and now you can. So lets hear it....

i thought it was alright. definately interesting and worth watching but im not really big on all of the narrative or the way he concludes the movie. theres definately valuable information there but i think it could have been done a little less hollywood....a little less melo-dramatic attachment to everything. and i dont dig the light he casts on his brother and his lifting accomplishments. its like hes making that 705 press to be a farce because the guy sauces. its ****in APF, thier all sauced. literally everyone of them...he ****in knows that, but tosses his brother in the fire to put a wrap on his movie and degrade what hes achieved? that kinda sucks imo. and this is coming from a natural lifter so im obviously not biased. i dont know, it was cool..and brought some important information out into a more mainstream demographic of culture to understand but theres shit i would have done differently.

Greatest movie of 2008, just saw it on the megavideo link, downloading it and also going to buy the dvd when it comes out. The first mainstream attempt at educating people on this side of the whole steroid debate. It's really funny because i dont think there is anyone on earth more against steroid abuse than me, I just hate it when people spew out 'facts' about steroids they learned from some airhead on tv. I hope this inspires somebody out there to do clinical studies on the real sides of steroid use in grown bodybuilders. Hell I'd volunteer

I agree with you guys about the family part. I guess since I know them its kinda cool for me to see old friends. I think what he was going for was to show how it effects a typical American Family. I would not say best film of 2008, but I think Chris did justice to it. Even though he's not into juicing I feel he reported the facts well.

I agree with Amorphic in the fact that movie could have been alot more like a Michael Moore film and stated much more facts and studies rather than focusing on his family and their determination to be pro wrestlers....40% of the movie was just a family video, didn't like that part very much. It was edited well, but as far as the amount of information in the film... I was disappointed

i think there was not too much new information for the informed juicer, but i dont think a lot of the details that we would care about would mean nothing to the average dipshit. the family story i think could kinda make it relate a little more to the public as well as keep interest. i personally would love to watch a movie on medical facts and scientific studies but it would probably put most people to sleep.

I loved the Congressman interview where he dosent know shyt of whats going on. The part of Arnold really pissed me off, sucks that he went to the bodybuilders on the beach to get their support but then turned his back on them.

Iam watching it now, its actaully really good and shows alot of experts and famous peoples opinion on the issue. My favorite part so far is a scene from the news media that says "Steroids cause's hallunications and voices in someones head"

It was ok, but i dont think it would change any anti-steroid peoples views whatsoever, he focused too much on his family life and not on enough medical facts and i feel sorry for his brothers, his wrestler brother got a bad rap in the film for being a wannabe wrestler, true he probably will never make it, but your his brother bro you shouldnt show your dad calling him deluded and that his dreams will never happen on a tv/film, also his other brother has probably lost all his respect from those kids he trains as he's admitted he takes steroids for his brothers film, we can all see that he lied to them kids so they dont think juice is the answer and now he probably cannot show his face to them kids, apart from that he did do steroids some justice, with pointing out steroids kill 3 people every year, something like 150 in the list of killers, I liked that. shows steriods are made out too be to dangerous

We have to understand that a number of people in this film were ON steroids while working with kids. They are currently FULL GROWN male adults, so they HAVE to tell the kids "NO!" about steroids to protect them... because we can't always expect kids to understand the whole situation.

And WHEN the kids find out their coaches, etc were using steroids, at least they THEMSELVES were not using them for that much longer.



On a side note: I notice the part about the Television Advertisements for sleeping pills, anxiety meds, cholesterol, ED, etc....

I feel there should be a BAN on advertising prescription meds!
Does anyone see a problem with my decision on this?
(Advertising these to the public makes them dependent on drugs to be the answer to their MINOR disorders in life.) I mean these are drugs that have SERIOUSLY Potential Side Effects, even DEATH is a possible side effect! And they are allowed to advertise these potentially dangerous substances to people, OPENLY?!?! NO NO NO!

With how congress treats the situation with cigarettes, no ads for cigs.... Steroids are available via PRESCRIPTION ONLY, so how are these other Pharmaceutical Prescriptions meds allowed to be ADVERTISED!


I think there should be a commercial for HRT!!! Shake it up a little...

I disagree Joker..... When someone mind is made up you can't change it no matter what. Like all of us. We Love juice and no one can tell us otherwise. I liked when bell asked him to place anti-depressants on his website and he said no b/c he was in denial that could have been the cause of his son killing himself. personally i believe the kid had other issues that led him to take his own life. the dad was ignorant but i dont want to blame him because he did have to bury his son, but look at the negative feedback aas got from it

Oh I also liked how Arnie had all his photos at Gold’s Gym taken down…

I also like the interview footage of Maria Shriver slamming steroids and their evil long term effects and then she marries one of the biggest juice heads in the industry…

I have never been a fan of Arnie and never will be… (However, I thought he did alright job in the original terminator but than again he does not speak too much). It’s when Arnold opens his mouth I lose respect for him and now that he is governor I really don’t think too much of him…. Especially when it comes to balancing a budget.

i really enjoyed this movie. He tied together a lot of things about steroids and our culture which really lets one understand hows things come to be. I thought the family aspect was a great addition, it lets people relate much easier because many of us face the same dilemma, i know i do. His narration is present, but no overdone, as was evident in the taylor hooten part and when he interviewed the congressman who was completely clueless. He didnt need to say he was clueless, or that hootens dad was an extremely biased and most likely innaccurate view, they did the talking (or lack of) for themselves. I feel that this docu was less detail oriented, and more focused on societal aspects, which one can deduce from the title alone.

I think this is something that should be seen by more people, and may create a better acceptance and understanding.

Yeah, taking down his posters shows me that he does not respect his past. It is almost as if he is ashamed to have his pictures posted up. I cannot say he is gesturing that he is too good for his pics to be up there....

I actually do feel he is one person when he talks about bodybuilding, and a completely different person outside of that.

Still, taking down the pics doesn't accomplish anything.
It's a no brainer move IMO.

Unless he is trying to keep the two separate. Maybe he does not want his bodybuilding image to be mixed up/interfere with how he is viewed in politics... as well he may not want the credit from his past to be acknowledged, but instead to be recognized for his PRESENT state as a serious political figure.

I can see this as totally legit. I would want credit for the things I do NOW, rather than the past keeping me help up on people's shoulders. You know?

As for the kid committing suicide. Kids are young and are inexperienced with emotions and the hormones that they have going through their body during puberty,etc. This is a rollercoaster for them!
So:
1) The kid using AAS in the first place was BAD as this may intensify the rollercoaster. (Bad because he doesn't know what is going on or how to control these feelings - especially such intense ones with AAS at his age)
2) Throwing an anti-depressant into the mix with an AAS-Rollercoaster HAS proved to be a deadily mix in this case.

There was MUCH ignorance going on in the situation!!!
Did you all see how his father acted during the interview!!?
The man leaves NO room for discussion! He wants the last word, and it has to be HIS way!
So I can see if his son tried to discuss the matter, the father would not hear of it, and shut him up by saying something like, "You can have all the experts in the world testify, but it doesnt mean anything".
That's the mentality/vibe I pick up from the father.
So the father, thinking he knows it all, thinking he knows what's best, puts the kid on drugs because he doesnt want to put in time and effort into the problem... puts his son on anti-depressants.
This could be the path the lead up to the anti-depressants and the bad cocktail of emotions that caused the kid to take his life.

I wonder if the father is signed up on these boards. I wouldn't doubt it, afterall he did want a "steroids awareness" to be held at local baseball stadiums. At this point the father is being a TOOL! Using the whole baseball&steroids gig as a way to boost his cause. I mean, there is hype with steroids and baseball, so why not hold a steroids-night at baseball stadiums because the man has pain from a dead son who used steroids.
This idea to have this at a stadium is STUPID!

Yeah it's pretty pathetic how Tyler Hooton's father is looking for any reason possible to point out his sons death except his poor parenting. "Hey instead of trying to get to the bottom of what/why my son is on steroids and educate myself/him on them, let's make him feel like shit for doing it and put him on Lexapro!"
