Competing on HRT morally right or wrong?

I am prescribed testosterone for a hormone imbalance. Should I fight in MMA / Jui Jitsu tournaments or could I eventually get in trouble?

Whether it is morally right or wrong is one question, and what the rules are for MMA is another.

Find out the latter first, I dont think folks on here would know.

My stance for the "morally" part, if it is a HRT dose, which puts you on par with the other competitors, IMO it should be ok. If however, you are shooting 500 mg/wk, while the others arent.... you think about it.

Good answer but bottom line is what does the rules say?

im sure its cool that you take a prescribed dose.. i duno if they would test you for that or not anyway in tournaments like that.....but if you go pro thats a big negative. look what happend to sherk and his test limit was only like .03 over.

Being on HRT is one way many top athletes pass drug tests for example.

If someone was prescribed 100mg of test as a trt dose they could up it to 1g a week for a cycle then stop the cycle a few weeks before the event so their levels go down to reflect the prescribed 100mg EW and pass the test as the only have to worry about the amount of test in their system and not if there are traces of the substance in there system.

If you are cleared by your governing athletic commission go for it.

There are a lot of things that you need to take care of before going that route.

About morally? My morals are not yours. I can say ive never competed while "ON".

If HRT dose test is all you are using, then you are probably at a disadvantage. I'd be willing to bet many use a lot more than that.

I've been reading more and more that Lance Armstrong was on HRT/TRT when he won all those Tours.

Get online and search for TUE - Therapeutic Use Exemptions
Every sports has guidelines/rules for this type of thing.

Seems like this is one way athletes can skirt the rules.
