So with some research I have found that for every muscle but the shoulder you want to use a 1.5 inch needle. But for the shoulder you want to get as short as possible like a 1 inch. Why is this? Is it fear of hitting the bone or tendons?

everything besides glutes i use 25g 1'
so a 1 inch needle is good for shoulders?
