Whats a good video editing program

I want to do simple things like edit movies and put music in the background, maybe put text on the video, shit like that. Maybe do something basic to start like make a music video.

What would be a good program for a beginner? I'm pretty good with software in general but haven't done anything like this.

adobe cs5... pretty simple and fun to play with.

most OS' come with simple movie editors...windows movie maker, apple imovie...the adobe products aren't basic unless you are familiar with them
