The Banned List

Every once in awhile I see people getting banned and sometimes hear of nothing about why they were banned(expecially ones with larger amounts of posts). Is it possible to have a thread that at lease keeps us up to date on what is going on when someone gets banned? I know some may have been banned for certain reasons that some may not want to share but for me it is a reminder that no matter how many posts you have or how helpful you have been you can still be removed. If this isn't possible no problem just wanted to know. Thanks

i have been asking about this since there seems to be a bunch with 10k+ posts that have been banned and i had even asked dsm about it.

I see no need to go all the way back and search everyone up would just like to know who was just recently banned and be informed of it in a post. I am not too big in knowning the ones who have 100 post and under(if you know what I mean) and being banned just the larger ones who have been here for a long time.

If they were banned there is a reason and most commonly its for breaking one of the board rules. 5 post or 5000 posts if you are going against the rules you deserve to be banned imo

One forum I go to has this section called "The Graveyard".

Basically its a list of people that have been banned or suspended, with a reason by the Mod who kicked their asses out. The thread is usually locked by the mod to prevent whiners asking further questions, but I guess something like that would be okay here, and would reduce people asking questions all the time.

We're all human and have bad days. Sometimes those bad days are enough to get you banned. Some people can control themselves and keep the arguments/debates civil but there's always those who just blow up out of nowhere.

I got suspended twice from here. I think both those that suspended me are gone from AR. Coincidence I think not!

The graveyard is an excellent idea imo. There's so many times over the years I've wondered about different members who disappear. It might also be cool to list people who are taking a leave of absence. Might eliminate a lot of the "where is so-in-so?" threads.

I think everyone on this forum is guilty and should be banned, myself included.

But realistically speaking bans are only for the obedient folks. Anyone can come back after a ban/suspension and theres really no way to ban anybody permanently.

It can be really random sometimes in terms of the banning/suspension.

I was suspended once for 1 day when I was a newbie for bumping old posts and just didn't know the rules (by nark).
Second time I was going through some personal problems and nark told me it might be a good idea to take a break as everyone does it from time to time when they're stressed. I agreed that I was stressed and I would take a break lol. I didn't take a break, flamed someone and nark suspended me again this time for 1 month (although he was extremely polite how he did it).
Third time I saw a lot of shady shit going on here. Like one of the most peaceful members I ever knew got banned. Following month or so I noticed a vet along
with members flamebaiting newbies for posting stupid questions in the questions forums, then banning them when they merely reciprocated the flaming. The
newbies were being dumb as shit in their OP's, but that really pissed me off as they didn't know better and people were ganging up just to push their buttons
so they had an excuse to ban them. Anyhow I logged in drunk one night and was being a typical loud mouthed bigot (which I'm usually not). Same person I saw
baiting newbies came in the thread rather calm to address me and I started pushing thier buttons which turned into a flamewar. I logged in
the next day not even knowing who I offended untill I saw a comment on my page from mooseman telling me I was crazy for starting shit with marcus. Till this
day I still can't remember exactly what I said but I'm sure it was bad cause I got tossed for 6 months.
I still see that shit going on with newbies every so often where you expect long term members to just be more patient instead of flamebaiting but the fact is I
don't hang out enough in the questions forum to say what really is and isn't deserved.
Overall though I don't hold grudges although the one thread that started all that shit I still don't think that newbie should have been banned. Any single normal
human being would have reacted that way and he was baited at first just because people *assumed he was lying about his stats. His stats were a bit off the
wall but people came in there giving him no other choice then to get himself banned. Still however, I would have never got suspended if it wasn't for alcohol,
and being as though I don't drink anymore I'm not really worried about getting suspended again. Reality is though for the racist comments I should have absolutely
been banned, but I think who ever banned me realized how out of character I was that night and that I was likely drunk/on something.

Moral of the story. Shit happens.

When long term members have been booted or have a lot of posts its usually because of sourcing, or something thats happened behind closed doors here, where we (the staff) are trying to protect the forum.

I could have very easily gotten banned last night over in the hormone replacement therapy section. Trying to honestly help a new member who no matter what evidence you presented he would not accept. Whew. Fortunately a little common sense prevailed, very little and I went to bed. Those of you who have been to this thread know what I mean.
